Chez Mimi: Chicken Soup
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/2014/01/chicken-soup.html
The best chicken soup of my life happened completely by accident, like most things in my kitchen. It was unplanned and amazing. I'd bought a packet of marinade-free chicken. Legs on sale from my local shop, with nothing particular in mind beyond cheap 'n'easy dishes. They're very meaty after all, and great in heaps of different dishes. I roasted them with just a touch of olive oil. And then I started getting an inkling of a plan. Here's what happened. A couple sticks of celery. And one medium large kaukau.

Chez Mimi: Summer shoes
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/2013/05/summer-shoes.html
Warning: disturbing image below]. Last summer, I found a pair of the most adorable little ballerinas. Black silky canvas, with a pretty sort of swirling design. Adorable, I tell you. I always wear ballerinas to the bone, so I thought this time I'll be smart and buy two. Pairs, so when, inevitably, the time comes for me to give up the first ones, I'll happily just pull out the next pair and keep a-walkin'. Sunday, May 05, 2013. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Chez Mimi: Chez Mimi
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/p/chez-mimi.html
Welcome to Chez Mimi! For quite some time now, the idea of doing something else besides music as a full-time profession has been mulling around in the back of my mind. It's never come to more than initial investigation into various options, but one of my favourite ideas (amongst working with street-kids in Brazil, or working in tourism in any variety of countries) is to open my own little public living room called Chez Mimi. Chez Mimi: A Single Heartbeat
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/p/what-is-always.html
What is always, but only as long as a single heartbeat? Amy Tan, "The Bonesetter's Daughter". I read this book years and years ago. In it was a poem, from which I only remember this one line. 'What is always, but only as long as a single heartbeat.'. Instantly; the idea of always, of eternity, has always fascinated me. Inspired by this line, the original name of my blog was "A Single Heartbeat," hence the URL. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Labels on this blog. Simple template. Powered by Blogger.

Chez Mimi: September hiking
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/2013/09/september-hiking.html
Last week a friend took me out of the city for a hike. Just think, this is less than an hour out of the center of town by bus. Not too shabby! Our first coffee break. Let's go again soon! Sunday, September 29, 2013. I like your hiking suit! And the scenery is pretty spectacular, too :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). It's a season of all-things-new for me. Chez Mimi: My Recipes
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/p/just-few-nibbles.html
I've been wanting some way to organise my recipes online in a way that other people can also access them. So far, this is the best I've come up with. It'll take a while to get everything on here, but slow and steady, right? Cheap 'n' Creative Chicken. Lentils with Spinach and Ginger. Warm Chick Pea Salad. White Chocolate Mango Mousse. Chez Mimi: August
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/2013/08/blog-post.html
The summer has been packed. Full of sweetness, travels, loved ones and light.*. I'm back home now, and the first signs of autumn are weighing upon us. I woke up last night to the trembling of my bed - a thunderstorm was right on top of us, raging in all it's glory. Leaves are turning colour, the weather is turning cooler. This time of year, it's all about where you look. Down that street - gold. Down the other way - green. It's pretty beautiful either way. Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Labels on this blog.

Chez Mimi: Running!
http://singleheartbeat.blogspot.com/2013/05/running.html
Today I took part in my first ever voluntary sports event: a 10km women's run in Helsinki. Albeit with knee braces/bandages on both legs.). Honestly I don't know what I'm more proud of - completing my master's degree or doing this run. It's a close call. I ran with my flatmate, and we succeeded exactly according to plan, even though my plan was more than I'd ever done before. We walked the first kilometre, which means we ran (ok, fine, jogged) the other nine. And it felt so good! Sunday, May 26, 2013.
