Artificial Fuel Tank Realised. November 7, 2013. I began work on my fuel tank today. I was surprised by how quickly you can shape the tan cast along with the smooth finish. I will consider this in future projects. Staying with my agriculture theme I shaped the tank in the form of a seed. November 28, 2013. For this piece I simply got 50mm aluminium tubing and faced it off on the lathe. I followed this up by acquiring a brass bar the same diameter. Either end was machined down to the internal size of the aluminium tube. The Brass was hammered into the tube with a wooden mallet. In essence-an interference fit. November 7, 2013. At this point I have approximately 90% of the frame complete. This was the most difficult part of the project by far. Trying the line up the tubing, tack welding it on and stepping back to see if it was aligned with the rest of the bike only the see it being crooked happened way too often…. I used a combination of TIG,MMA and MIG with TIG being the most used. I didn’t take many photos of the processes due to being engrossed in the whole thing. Frame parts tacked on. Front piece tacked on.
