Sheffield on the fly: It's been a while....
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2012/07/it-been-while.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Saturday, 14 July 2012. Its been a while. So, since I last posted life has changed - the birth of my daughter in september has changed domestic priorities significantly! However, I have managed to get out fishing a few times, though not as often as previous years. Great fishing in a great location. Definitely worth another trip back. The area is beautiful, with plenty to do and to keep the family amused. View my complete profile. Bakew...

Sheffield on the fly: Trout!
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2011/04/trout.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Wednesday, 13 April 2011. Trout season is now well upon us - a quick visit to the Don after work with some tricky fishing put me into 2 trout today. I fished an area I had not fished before, nearer the middle of town than previously. I had scoped it out a couple of days ago, when the pictures below were taken - lovely and warm, and not too breezy. That was not the case today however! 14 April 2011 at 08:17. Keep it coming please. I'm r...

Sheffield on the fly: Bailey bridge up to Norfolk bridge Weir
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2011/04/bailey-bridge-up-to-norfolk-bridge-weir.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Friday, 15 April 2011. Bailey bridge up to Norfolk bridge Weir. A warm and overcast day today, so reasonable conditions for a spot of fishing. I went down to Attercliffe again, parking on Effingham street and crossing the bailey bridge to access the river. The river here is slow and wide, with lots of weed on the bottom. I quickly moved further upstream, and fished the faster waters down from the weir. Looking upstream from the weir.

Sheffield on the fly: Probably my favourite stretch of the Don..
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2011/08/probably-my-favourite-stretch-of-don.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Thursday, 25 August 2011. Probably my favourite stretch of the Don. A video taken during a couple of hours fishing with my brother. Hot weather, but lots of fish! I have yet to explore the upper don, but understand that some/all of it above oughtibridge is private fishing. Wouldn't mind trying the very headwaters - not sure if they are private or not but will ask around. 13 October 2011 at 16:02. 21 October 2011 at 20:19. Great blog am...

Sheffield on the fly: When you can't fish...
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2012/09/when-you-cant-fish.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Saturday, 29 September 2012. When you can't fish. So when you can't get out to fish, what else can you do? And so started my attempts at fly tying. I bought a starter pack of material for about 15 quid, and picked up some extra bits and bobs off ebay. The prime reason for me wanting to tie flys is that getting decent flies on barbless hooks without costing more than I'm willing to cast is difficult! Beadhead pheasant tail nymph. I'm re...

Sheffield on the fly: Experimenting with new toys....
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2011/07/experimenting-with-new-toys.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Tuesday, 26 July 2011. Experimenting with new toys. Posted below are a couple of videos - a new toy I've been experimenting with, the GoPro HD video recorder. It has a completely waterproof case, and is really sturdy - used by a lot of extreme sports types, mountain bikers, surfers etc etc. and now fishermen! These are just my first efforts, so apologies for the roughness, but I think it gives a reasonable impression of the fishing.

Sheffield on the fly: Home Waters...
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2011/04/home-waters.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Monday, 18 April 2011. A pre-night shift fishing session beckoned, and I fancied fishing a little closer to home, rather than driving across town to the Don. Within half a mile of my house is the Sheaf, which is home to many small brown trout. Millhouses park was busy, with school holidays and kids everywhere enjoying the park, so I wandered to my hidden gem of a stretch - the ultimate in small stream technical trouting! There was noth...

Sheffield on the fly: Home waters
http://sheffieldonthefly.blogspot.com/2012/07/home-waters.html
Sheffield on the fly. Exploits on the rivers in and around Sheffield. Saturday, 14 July 2012. A brief after-work visit to one of Sheffield's many small streams provided a good hour of tight quarters entertaining fly fishing. It's been a while since I fished and I enjoyed being back on the water. I was within 50 yes of two busy roads, but I could have been miles away- the thick vegetation almost completely screened the river from the surroundings. Posted using BlogPress from my iPad. Its been a while.

A Flyfisherlady's Life: July 2015
http://www.flyfisherlady.co.uk/2015_07_01_archive.html
Stumbling through life whilst daydreaming about fishing. Monday, 13 July 2015. My mother said I should never write in books. 8221; and “yawn, yawn, yawn” make me smile and have recorded my first impressions of reading that great novel. Incidentally, I don’t actually like the book that much but I did enjoy the BBC seres, you know, the one where Colin Firth jumps in a lake. In the Bodmer museum in Geneva. With time to spare, I took three steps forward and saw a lovely, dark inlet. Again, I willed my fl...
