Newer posts →. Mosaic Technique and Updated Class Schedule. February 23, 2011. Seems I’m much better at creating blogs than maintaining them. I just updated my teaching schedule (on the right side of the page). I’ll be teaching machine quilting at The Sew Inn in Morgantown. I’m very excited about a new technique I just learned! Here’s my first attempt:. This lovely butterfly flew off today to help raise money for Alzheimer’s research as an AAQI donation. Check them out by clicking HERE! January 14, 2011.

This was actually quite fun…the teacher ran us through the Road To Camp Gravatt by Bonnie Hunter. The directions on Bonnie’s site don;t really give you yardages since she uses scraps to cut individual pieces but the teacher was able to give us some approximations. You can find the quilt that Bonnie did and her instructions here. Laquo; 05 28 2011 #2. Heart BOM 2011 (8).

Friday, December 31, 2010. Out With the Old, In With the. The day after Christmas we picked up the keys to our new house. Well, new. Not new exactly; it was built in 1914 or thereabouts. My husband and I have been looking around for a few years, not in any organized way, but checking out houses we've seen for sale and doing drive-by appraisals. It would go something like this:. Me: Did you see that house on the corner by the high school was for sale? This fall we got a little more serious. We made a ...

Monday, July 26, 2010. Design Wall Monday: One Thing Leads to Another. I spent a frustrating Saturday morning dealing with real life stuff and nearly all of Saturday afternoon at the computer. At first I was looking for a mystery quilt pattern I could use for the guild- not too hard for beginners but with something of interest for more experienced quilters. Then I got a little sidetracked as it's so easy to do when hunting around on the 'net. And there I found yet another block pattern to fall in love wi...

Dented Thimble Quilting: January 2011

Tuesday, January 18, 2011. WISP: Work in Slow Progress. Before all the excitement about the new house and the drudgery of painting it, actual sewing took place around here. I started these blocks this summer, kitted some pieces up to take when we went on vacation, and finished six or seven blocks. Some of them still smell of sunblock and that brings back memories of hard sunshine and the wind coming off the water in Maine. Isn't it odd how smells can do that to you? Links to this post. I was optimistic e...

Monday, May 10, 2010. Design Wall Monday: Almost Sewing Again. I printed out the plan for the quilt from EQ and started to calculate what I was going to need to cut. I was scribbling my calculations on the back of an old envelope when I decided that it would probably be better to just put them in my quilt notebook so I wouldn't have to worry about losing the envelope. It took a few more minutes to find the notebook. I was finally able to get this thing laid out on the design wall. As with all Bonnie's pa...

Monday, August 30, 2010. Design Wall Monday: An Actual Finish. I went to a mini-retreat with my sewing group this past weekend, and, TA-DA! If you're interested. (I had to go in the WAY BACK machine, ahem, last June, to find it.). Because I can't resist, here are some pictures of some of my favorite blocks:. BTW these blocks are 8 inches, finished. And, I got some other things done, too! Ah, it felt so good to be able to sit and sew. This decade. IF I get to attend enough quilt retreats. I was in a bit o...

Dented Thimble Quilting: Christmas Time
http://dentedthimblequilting.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas-time.html
Monday, December 27, 2010. We had planned to drive up Christmas eve and spend the weekend with my daughter and her husband, but the weather forecasters started early in the week with dire predictions about bad weather and snow on Christmas eve and Christmas day. One to 2 inches! No, 2-4 inches! No, wait, 2-5 inches! We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with my daughter and her husband, not doing much of anything except watching movies, reading, listening to Christmas music, and doing a bit of kn...

Sunday, November 21, 2010. Crazy, Beautiful Trees. So, here are some of the tree blocks I received in our sewing group exchange last weekend. (The color of the red background fabric is truer in the first photo. It's what I would call tomato red.). Some are free-pieced, a la Gwen Marston, some are paper pieced and some are appliqued. I just love them. When I add my four blocks I'll have 24, just enough for a very vibrant couch throw. Links to this post. Wednesday, November 17, 2010. I dithered about what ...
