Ski Young: January 2015

Monday, January 12, 2015. You Can't Fake (Classic) Skiing. I remember being told a while ago by someone (I can't remember who) you can't fake classic skiing. At the time I got what he said. Classic skiing involves much more "stuff" I guess you could say, than skating. You have to mess around with kick wax to start, and sloppy technique means herringboning the uphills. So I would agree that you can't fake classic skiing. Some great classic skiing at the Rikert Eastern Cup. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sunday, August 10, 2014. Training On The Road. Last weekend I headed up to Boston to visit my sister for a couple of days. I realized that over time I have made a lot of weekend trips. Training can be much more tough whenever out of town (unless at a training camp or something similar). Here are my rules and suggestions for training on the road! Do It At Home. Train In The Morning. Guarantee that you get it done, compared to thinking you'll squeeze it in later and then never getting to it. When on the ro...

Ski Young: State-ing The Facts
http://www.skiyoung.com/2015/03/state-ing-facts.html
Saturday, March 7, 2015. Although it occurred 10 days ago, I still wish to write about the NYS Public High School Nordic Ski Championship, in Lake Placid, NY. These races were the culmination of the public high school season; but to me, the start of the championship season! I do apologize for how late this blog update is, but when I got home from Lake Placid, I began sleeping and studying more, to help with impeding Junior National Championship, which I am flying too right now! Nina and I at the banquet!

Saturday, October 18, 2014. The last time I updated this blog it was right after the famous Dash in the Dark race and since then there has been a lot going on! There have been two really big races that Mendon went to after Dash, the first being the Victor Invite. This race was pretty important because it was a preview of this years, brand new, Sectional course. I was racing in the Varsity B race, and was able to come up with the win! Katie and I (Katie also won the Varsity B race)! Last week we raced in ...

Ski Young: December 2014
http://www.skiyoung.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 25, 2014. Last weekend I drove farther north to the land of snow and maple syrup (AKA Vermont) to ski in the Eastern Cup Opener at Rikert Nordic Center. This weekend was my first two races as a J1 and both opened with a bang! On Saturday I had a 10k individual start classic race, and on Sunday I had my first 15k mass start skate race! I feel like Rikert is more of a pilot episode for the season that it is the start of the season. I forgot to employ Gabby's strategy of "start slow, and ...

Monday, March 30, 2015. Things That Happened In Truckee 2015. This post is long overdue, and I am very sorry for that. Life caught up to me after nationals, and the majority of my free time was spent trying to catch up on sleep or school. With that being said, I would not be able to call this blog “Ski Young” if I failed to write a post regarding Junior Nationals. My Road to Truckee. After getting into Truckee I headed over to the Mid-A house, and settled down. Flying over the rockies! For U18s, Evan and...
