I would create a few 'thought questions' which will give the students an idea of what ideas, issues, facts the professor sees as the most important aspect of the reading. The situation has reached such a point that the full scope is truly beyond comprehension from a removed perspective. It is also pretty disappointing that media discussion of the peace process/settlements/etc overlooks these solidarity movements; instead, media organizations look to polarize the conflict.
