The railway came to Amberley in 1863 and made it accessible, especially to London. CYCLING and BIRD WATCHING. Amberley offers a variety of recreational opportunities which include cycling, walks, bird watching, canoeing, sailing, horse riding, racing, golf and tennis. Boat trips and canoeing take place on the River Arun and the nearby popular coastal resorts and Chichester harbour offer activities for sailing enthusiasts. This much loved garden was Marjorie Holland’s, a founder member of the Amberley Society She died in 2006 at the age of 96. An Inspirational English Garden. Grass (Leeesprsia oryzoides).
