The book is a beautiful, leather bound collection of the letters of Grant, leading general of the Union during the American Civil War, as well as papers from Lee, leading general of the South. This would be an important book for military librarians to read for several reasons. The American Civil War is considered the first modernly fought war (although that is open to much debate!
