Baidarka: El Kayak de les illes Aleutianas
http://fotosbaidarka.blogspot.com/2007/05/primeres-imatges-de-la-construccio-de.html

The Invisible workshop: The Grey Triggerfish (Balistes capriscus)
http://theinvisibleworkshop.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-grey-triggerfish-balistes-capriscus.html
Wednesday, 5 August 2015. The Grey Triggerfish (Balistes capriscus). I like fish, I'm interested in them both underwater and on my plate. I have a reasonable knowledge based mainly on experience, shored up with solid facts from the wikipedia and fishbase.org. I'm always eager to learn about the sea and its inhabitants. A new sea floor over which to snorkel brings the pleasure of anticipation. I have discovered just how painful is the poison of the weever fish (. And how enduring the discomfort of the.

The Invisible workshop: June 2015
http://theinvisibleworkshop.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 9 June 2015. Back on the road. It took a while, a hypersensitivity to dust slowing things down, but at last Onawind Blue was ready for the water. I'd photographed all her deck gear before she was stripped to ensure that I could replace everything just so. However, those photos had disappeared from my mobile phone and I had to rely on memory, the very thing that I had outsourced to the sodding jellybone. The final coat of varnish. It's like riding a bicycle, innit? I have my blocks and tackle and...

The Invisible workshop: April 2015
http://theinvisibleworkshop.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Friday, 10 April 2015. This Thing of Darkness. The result, however, has brought me closer to Darwin and Fitzroy than anything I have read. Thompson is a fine storyteller and weaves a page-turner of a yarn. It's not Patrick O'Brian but at times it comes pretty close, particularly. Through the dialogue and the naval routines. Anyone versed in O'Brian will find them gratifyingly familiar. Just as with Aubrey and Maturin, the brilliantly depicted. Their friendship. But this is only part of the tragedy. Is tr...

The Invisible workshop: August 2015
http://theinvisibleworkshop.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 31 August 2015. A lambency of gaff in looms. Solitude, in a word. La Punta de la Banya is a nature reserve and is all but inaccessible except in a shallow draft, flat-bottomed boat. Scrub and the odd tree were becoming silhouettes by the time I arrived and I cautiously approached a tiny beach, letting the boat skid sideways with no centreboard or rudder, making minor adjustments to the course, poling with an oar. A flamboyance of flamingos. Wednesday, 5 August 2015. A new sea floor over which to ...

The Invisible workshop: March 2015
http://theinvisibleworkshop.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 25 March 2015. O B's solo adventure. On looking towards OB's snug berth between the dunes I could kid myself that I'd been in bed so long that my bearings were off or that the sand had piled up obscuring her from view. But as I neared a hole seemed to open up in me, corresponding in size almost exactly to the gap in the dunes where my boat wasn't. Onawind Blue, gone? Should I keep my head up as I neared and let the details reveal themselves to my myopic eyes, or stare at the sand and so receiv...

The Invisible workshop: May 2013
http://theinvisibleworkshop.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, 13 May 2013. One of those days. I t's not often a day comes along when, after a good, early breakfast, there is nothing left to do but ponder on what to have for lunch. Given a large supply of unusual fish my thoughts turn to methods of preparation. There's a colourful 'tord roquer' in the freezer, a corkwing wrasse,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Fear is a Giant Octopus. To my channel. Or scroll down the page until the relative posts appear. A high wind in Garraf. A shipwright in training. Talkin'...

The Invisible workshop: L'Ametlla. The morning after.
http://theinvisibleworkshop.blogspot.com/2015/07/lametlla-morning-after.html
Friday, 17 July 2015. L'Ametlla. The morning after. It's not easy to get a lie-in when sleeping in a car, the heat, the mosquitos, the bright sunlight, the noises off—in this case seagulls and outboards, not as noisy as a Seagull outboard motors themselves, but nonetheless a racket. I was moored by the crane ready for an early haul out but as it still wanted three hours until 9 o'clock I went for a row. Which turned into a sail. And then into a long row when the wind failed. Fear is a Giant Octopus.
