Una yanqui en la Mancha. Sunday, August 2, 2015. Back in the saddle. After nearly four years of. My motive for starting to write again is mostly selfish, in the sense that I spend so much time when I am home just "updating" people on what I'm doing and the new things I try, that there never seems to be enough time for meaningful conversation, past my hour-long "catch-up" that is now infamous to every summer visit. Of course, I don't mind telling anyone in person. It's like asking, "How's your whole life?

Beth and a Backpack: December 2009
http://bethford.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 8, 2009. I got a tip for a story yesterday: A 30-year-old Columbia man was found by police dead in his home last Friday, utilities turned off. I've heard of this situation before; elderly individuals succumb to the elements after defaulting on payments. What struck me about this story was that this man was. All of these situations are tragic, this one just took me by surprise. Just goes to show how all days of reporting, and the people that fill those days, are exceptionally different.

Friday, April 30, 2010. Here Comes the President.
