Harding House: August 2014

I absolutely love the 4th of July! This year we combined Henry's birthday with a pre-fireworks BBQ with friends.so red, white, blue and teenage mutant ninja turtles. Land of the free! We enjoyed a ward breakfast at the bishops, fun BBQ and party with friends followed by fireworks - where we lucked out with a not to busy or loud spot with an easy exit. Jackpot! Celebrating Henry's 4th on the 4th was a hit! My kids look forward to it all year, as do I! Can't wait until next year! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

This group of people has made the past two years of our lives simply marvelous. The dreaded but glorious graduation day finally came. Amelia, 5 days old even made the outing to support dad. Did you know Harvard University graduation is the oldest tradition in the US next to Thanksgiving? Some crazy traditions. I didn't make the trek to commencement, but I did drop off Spencer's mom and dad at 6:45am and didn't seem them again until around noon. Yikes! That's what I call love! So so so HOT. Kind of a whir...

A day in the life of this babe! Happy 75% birthday - let's celebrate with a nap! Dear Daddy, we love you to pieces! Snow and the dreaded driveway. I've always loved the snow. I think it comes from my mom. Every snow day we would wake up, shovel and then drive to McDonalds for breakfast. We were usually the only ones there, but it was always a highlight. It was on those trips to McDonalds that I learned how to drive in the snow, help get cars unstuck, and even how to jump a car. This girl takes after me :).

Wednesday March 12, 2014. After spending way too much time at Target today, these two were begging to go to the toy section. We compromised with sunglasses. We pretended we were movie stars and pirates. I'll let you guess which is which. In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun, and - SNAP - the job's a game! After she's done in the bathroom, Amelia makes her way across the hall to her room and manages to open the drawer under her bed. She then proceeded to unload ...

It's happening. I never thought it would and maybe tomorrow it will have vanished but note to self: remember these moments before you go and doubt their existence. My kids are playing together. They kind of like each other. Yes it's true. The fighting, annoyance, nagging and whining are being phased out with secret explorations, ant collections and club houses. Today it may have involved a plot to have Henry come in and sneak out some 'rollovers' (rolos), but ill take it. A taste of things to come. It wa...

She doesn't even know how good she has it. Growing up my sisters and I used to joke about choosing our family in heaven, about how I got in line first, debating based on the circumstance if we chose our parents or if they chose us, how we possibly recruited each other, how we probably chose our life to be with each other, and so on. All kidding aside, it's fun to think about, or rather speculate, our feelings of and excitement for our earthly experience before we were born. So glad she chose us :). So wh...

Empty playground, empty house, seems like an empty life. The packers came and in a dehumanizing way packed up our life into boxes. We stared at the boxes over the weekend and Monday morning they came and took it all away. As if to prove that material things don't matter. It was an awful feeling having the reality of the situation sink in. We left HBS when Amelia was two weeks old. We went to Utah for 3 weeks to relax and spend time with family and boy were we ready for some relaxation! As our stuff was b...

Today I was simply productive and it felt exhilarating. Today the kids seemed almost back to normal. Sure they've got spunk but they also had calm happy moments where they did things on their own which seems like a rarity these days. Madeleine folded and taped up pieces of toilet paper into her favorite shapes and Henry sat in his bed with his pacifier. Ill take what I can get. Today byu football is back! Today Amelia is much calmer than yesterday - whew! Today tennis is on and I'm one happy fan. Today (...

The eurosled in action. I'll be home for Christmas. It was our first year staying home for Christmas and I couldn't have imagined it being any better. New house, first Christmas for Amelia, older kids to understand the meaning and bring the magic, new MN friends. A lot of facetime. A lot of pictures. A lot of stripes. A lot of paper and boxes. A lot of love for goggles. A lot of chocolate. A lot of squeals of excitement. A lot of love, cheer, joy, and happiness. Where are you going? J and M Johnson.
