Ongoing scribblings of a (perpetually) novice flyer. How to Learn to Fly…. Flyer Forum Christmas Fly-In Leicester. Ok, so the likelihood of the weather being good for all is slim, but we ought to give it a go, shouldn’t we? It might be a glorious day…. The event will be on 13th December and it will be at Leicester Airfield…. 8230;said the forum post…. But it’d be fun, loads of mates and forumites I don’t see that often would be there. Early morning mist lingered in the low ground but the vis and sky were...

LAA Rally 2014 | Leia Airborne
https://leiafee.wordpress.com/2014/09/04/laa-rally-2014
Ongoing scribblings of a (perpetually) novice flyer. How to Learn to Fly…. It was a bit of a last minute decision to go to the LAA Rally this year. It always seems to coincide with the Shoreham Airshow and I’d been toying with the idea of trying to get down there and see the two Lancasters together until one of them swallowed a cog anyway! So I decided to drop in on a friend, Dave and his TriPacer at Oaksey. I’d spent some time in company with another friend John trying to get the radio back workin...

Writings of a rookie flyer- temporarily travelling the asia-pacific regions. Friday, July 13, 2007. Keep your eyes peeled for seagulls. Lesson 7 -(08.07.07). 6 hours, 45 minutes. Another lucky weekend with no morning rain. I say morning because it poured again later in the afternoon. Derek arrived not too long after (I won’t deny I wasn’t counting lost minutes of sleep though! The kettle was boiled and I stupidly managed to burn my tongue- I still can’t taste food). Take off was okies, downwind leg- I’ve...

Writings of a rookie flyer- temporarily travelling the asia-pacific regions. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. Flying in a Straight Line. So, here we go again. Lesson 2. I jumped into the left hand seat of the Cessna situated on the right and fiddle around with the seatbelt strap trying to make sure that it actually fit this time, it felt ok, but later realised it might have been too tight as my movement manouvering the plane felt quite restricted. Darn, mental note to self- remember next time. What we can try ...

Writings of a rookie flyer- temporarily travelling the asia-pacific regions. Friday, February 27, 2009. New Zealand - New Beginings. So, there I was. I passed though customs a luggage-less tourist. I sighed a small sigh of relief for not having to lugg around a 15kg rucksack, but also for the niggling feeling I might never see the contents of that bag again. Airlines and transfers, a well developed system of chaos. Most of the main attractions are outside the city and are better accesible if you're based...

Writings of a rookie flyer- temporarily travelling the asia-pacific regions. Thursday, September 25, 2008. The final week of September was greeted with celebration. We'd survived the first month of teaching and we were headed to Beijing! Rice helped us to book the tickets (5 days in advance- no more no less). We packed onto the train and recalled our experiences of Shenyang to date and played a few games that nobody really considered to be entertaining, but played because everyone else was. The 1 Hai Inn...

Writings of a rookie flyer- temporarily travelling the asia-pacific regions. Sunday, May 20, 2007. Juding from last nights lack of cloud cover and the oddities of the last two weeks weather, I had no idea whether or not i'd be flying today. Luckily, Mr. Sun decided he'd had enough of taking a back seat and decided to come out to play- woohoo! Driving down was no problem today, no grannies or sunday strollers and so I made it into Pembrey in good time. It really does look easier when someone else does it!
