Once a S A Railways bus service maintenance shed, the property was developed into a restaurant site in 1997. Serving the local community, the bus service travelled daily between Clarens and Bethlehem. The neighbouring Bibliophile bookstore was originally the bus station. The property was sold in 1999, changed into an upmarket country dining establishment and renamed Clementines. These many milestones add to the ambience and charm of this quaint and popular restaurant in 'The Jewel of the Free State".
