Daphne's Dandelions: Harvest Monday, August 12th, 2013

http://daphnesdandelions.blogspot.com/2013/08/harvest-monday-august-12th-2013.html

Monday, August 12, 2013. Harvest Monday, August 12th, 2013. My two harvest baskets this week were mainly zucchini and cucumbers. I wrote about them earlier last week, but more onions were put in the tally. Only part of the Ailsa Craigs are left to weight. I think I'll get to them this week. But by far my favorite harvests were the peaches. Alliums 3.93 lbs. Beans 0.07 lbs. Corn 3.08 lbs. Cucumbers 5.56 lbs. Squash 2.01 lbs. Weekly Tally 14.65 lbs. Yearly Tally 181.33 lbs, $239.91. Peaches 4.14 lbs. Last,...

Daphne's Dandelions: Morning Routine

http://daphnesdandelions.blogspot.com/2015/05/morning-routine.html

Thursday, May 21, 2015. Mizuna ready for picking. I cut the leaves from one side one time, and the other the next. Two sisters bed starting to be planted. Kohlrabi starting to form. I also got under the row cover to the bed with the kohlrabi, Michihili cabbage, and some turnips. The bed needed weeding. I lost one kohlrabi to something. Since it was big and wilted and died I'm guessing root maggots. But the rest look great, so I'll have a lot of kohlrabi this year. May 21, 2015 at 10:21 AM. That is such a...

Daphne's Dandelions: Rain

http://daphnesdandelions.blogspot.com/2015/05/rain.html

Wednesday, May 20, 2015. I did get a little gardening done. I saw that the long range forecast is for a warming trend. Usually I'd start rooting my slips about a week from June 1st, my planting date. But since it is getting warmer and not colder I figured a few days early would be nice. Their spot is already empty as it had the overwintered spinach there earlier. May 20, 2015 at 10:54 AM. Eight Gate Farm NH. May 20, 2015 at 11:10 AM. May 20, 2015 at 11:23 AM. May 20, 2015 at 1:13 PM. What delightful look...

Daphne's Dandelions: Kale to Parsnips and Turnips

http://daphnesdandelions.blogspot.com/2015/05/kale-to-parsnips-and-turnips.html

Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Kale to Parsnips and Turnips. Spring planted Red Russian kale. For the first time this year I'm growing spring planted kale. It is going very well so far. I've had the first harvest from one side of the bed. I'll harvest the other side this week. Oh and did you notice the little white flowers in front of the kale? Molly the cat keeping the compost area free of mice. May 19, 2015 at 10:11 AM. May 19, 2015 at 12:26 PM. Your spring kale looks great. I planted it in spring for the ...

Daphne's Dandelions: Revamping the Spinach Bed

http://daphnesdandelions.blogspot.com/2015/05/revamping-spinach-bed.html

Saturday, May 16, 2015. Revamping the Spinach Bed. Since I harvested the last of the overwintered spinach on Thursday, I decided Friday was a good day to redo the bed before all the weeds and bolting spinach were pulled. This bed is made from some bricks from a walk that was taken apart. They aren't laid down with any kind of foundation, but just put on the surface. Over time the soil from inside the bed sinks. May 16, 2015 at 12:48 PM. I love your circle garden! May 16, 2015 at 1:48 PM. I use a lot of s...

Under the Plum Tree: July 2009

http://plotundertheplumtree.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Under the Plum Tree. The tale of the little plot that could. Gardening in hardiness zone 5 at Burlington Vermont's Tommy Thompson community gardens. Friday, July 10, 2009. Summer Fun and Summer Eats! Mmm the scapes are ready! So are the golden sweet peas and the carrots. Ohh and the favas came in, no photos because we ate them that fast! We had two good nights of them and then they were done, quick but worth the wait. I guess planting them early is the key. Some very respectable carrot thinnings! Olives ...

Under the Plum Tree. The tale of the little plot that could. Gardening in hardiness zone 5 at Burlington Vermont's Tommy Thompson community gardens. Tuesday, April 7, 2009. A day of firsts! First cutting of chives. I wasn't expecting the green onions or spinach to be ready, I hadn't even brought a bag to put them in! 160;They were all planted last season and are coming back very quickly.  The chives are always welcome spots of green in the early spring. Under the Plum Tree. The tale of the little plot that could. Gardening in hardiness zone 5 at Burlington Vermont's Tommy Thompson community gardens. Sunday, April 26, 2009. The cabbage has done very well in this system, I only wish I had started some other brassicas like this too.  I think since our forecast is going to have rain for a few days I will transplant today, so they have a chance to get established.  . 160;I didn't realize how many I had planted, there must be thousands. eek! Eight Gate Farm - New Hampshire: May 2015

http://eightgatefarmnh.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Eight Gate Farm - New Hampshire. A lifelong ambition to have a "gentleman's farm" fulfilled.one unplanned expense at a time! About Eight Gate Farm. Monday, May 25, 2015. Harvest Monday - 25 May 2015. Hello again from Eight Gate Farm! This week we are continuing to pick baby mesclun- enough for a nice salad every other day or so. The mix is from Baker Creek, and I've been very pleased with how fast it grows and how tender and tasty it is. Although I certainly can't tell just what everything is! On the opp...

Mama What The: June 2009

http://mamawhatthe.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 22, 2009. In the last few days I have mowed around the garden, trimmed around the garden, and pulled weeds in the garden. So why does it still look awful? The compost bin back behind the shed is full, and I'm sick of hiking out there every time I have a handful of weeds. So I have started a mobile compost pile in a trash can. I have read pros and cons for this sort of thing. But so far, I am really liking it! Links to this post. Friday, June 19, 2009. Goats In The Garden? You'll probably hea...

Eight Gate Farm - New Hampshire: War With Aliens!

http://eightgatefarmnh.blogspot.com/p/war-with-aliens.html

Eight Gate Farm - New Hampshire. A lifelong ambition to have a "gentleman's farm" fulfilled.one unplanned expense at a time! About Eight Gate Farm. I'm at war. It is an alien invasion. I'm fighting the aliens. You should be too. My property is at risk of becoming alien territory. Already they have made many inroads, and some seem unstoppable. Dare I suggest climate change? Or perhaps once they reach a certain critical population level they multiply exponentially? Yet even if I manage to get it under cont...

The Song Not the Singer

The Song Not the Singer. All kinds of music make my maracas shiver with pleasure. My taste is very eclectic: everything from the Arctic Monkeys to ZZ Top, from Balkan Brass to Duke Ellington. These are my favourite songs - not necessarily the original versions, but performed by my favourite singers. So get up off of yo' ass and shake yo' thang to Daphne's choice. Saturday, 8 October 2011. Monday, 18 July 2011. Brian Ferry: Jealous Guy. John, I think his version of "Jealous Guy" has to be the most stylish.
