Off the Wall: August 2013
http://offthewallfree.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Photography, Life and getting the Big Picture. Tuesday, 13 August 2013. The small camera feels solid and has amazing autofocus whilst being able to shoot up to 60 fps and in complete silence. The Nikon J1 has become a constant companion and although it has some silly modes which could have been used for more conventional operating modes, this is a highly capable camera. It is a great general grab along camera and a joy for stealthy street photography. My son Jude - very tricky boy to photograph! Subscrib...

Photography, Life and getting the Big Picture. Saturday, 26 April 2014. 1 flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. This is just a short story about my one year experience with the Nikon 1 series. Which is the company's first mirrorless interchangeable-lens compact camera. In the classic and controversial film " One flew over the cuckoo's nest. My two slightly used Nikon 1 cameras. Weren't favourable especially regarding the small 1 inch sensor. The next step in my 1 series journey was acquiring the 18,5mm f1,8 lens.

Photography, Life and getting the Big Picture. Monday, 13 February 2012. Tree with a Twist. From further down the street this young man slowly approached. Living in South Africa one is still wary of the dangers on the street and with this in mind I still kept photographing but with the other eye tracking him. He slowly arrived at the tree and then slowly moved out from behind it. It was clear that this young man was not in the best of shape and had the appearance of a typical streetkid. Mark Van Der Wal.

Off the Wall: New Beginnings
http://offthewallfree.blogspot.com/2014/04/new-beginnings.html
Photography, Life and getting the Big Picture. Saturday, 19 April 2014. Recently a friend and wedding photographer Glen Green. Sent me a link to birth photography. I was unaware of this new field and was under the impression that not too many mothers or fathers would want recollections of what is a rather private experience. It was so encouraging to see the beautiful work out there on the internet and in particular the inspiring work of Marysol Blomerus. In the last year I have intentionally been photogr...

Photography, Life and getting the Big Picture. Tuesday, 17 July 2012. Being the oddball film shooter in the presence of two very competent digital photographers for a day and a half of travelling wasn't exactly easy however these two digital disciples were starting to make sense and they had a ton of cracking images to show.
