November 30, 2016. December 9, 2016. English for M. Ed. ESP for M. Ed Students. I’m teaching an ESP class at a university in Thailand and enjoying the interaction with fellow educators, particularly those who teach English and are looking for new teaching methods. It’s also an opportunity to demonstrate some of the computer based learning and teaching elements I’ve been using, such as QuestionWriter. And Flash My Brain. I described QuestionWriter here. A student can receive instant scores from his or her...

December 2016 – Game On!
https://rowanhayward.wordpress.com/2016/12
December 9, 2016. December 9, 2016. As I indicated before, I paid 20 US dollars for Flash My Brain (a one-time fee, not a subscription). Considering how often I use it and the benefits of flashcard use for students, it’s a tremendous bargain. One more thing: you can access a large public library of flashcards other people have created, and choose to make your own flashcards public as well. More than a Game Cafe at Urban Square. English for M. Ed. Gaming Cafes in the Bangkok Area, Part 3.

May 1, 2015. May 3, 2015. The Benefits of Frequent Testing. I read this article. One exceptional product I’ve come across called QuestionWriter allows students to write tests and quizzes online, using a browser. The formative assessment. Test or quiz is created by the teacher, and saved to the QuestionWriter website. Fill in the Blank. Offers teachers a lot of options; it is clear that a lot of thought went into creating this software. Check it out today! Tagged browser based software. You are commenting...

March 13, 2017. March 15, 2017. More than a Game Cafe at Urban Square. At More than a Game. This More than a Game location has a lot of space, and is nicely decorated – it’s bright, open, and has sturdy yet attractive gaming tables and chairs. The amount of light and space are important because some customers might be intimidated by going into a cramped, dark place with a lot of strangers to sit and have a coffee and play a game. I intend to lead a group of role-players at the Urban Square More than a Ga...

April 12, 2015. May 3, 2015. Role Playing Games for English Language Learners. Quantifying Learning in RPG’s. Teaching language, math, social and higher order thinking skills through role playing games is not a new concept, but using a structured learning system that specifies learning objectives and incorporates formative and summative assessments is something that, to the best of my knowledge, has not been extensively explored. Above: Some students learning English through Cubicle 7’s. Have a look at a...
