Alberta Thoughts: March 2009
http://garytaje.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 11 March 2009. We are now approaching the middle of March and Crowsnest Pass Council has yet to determine our spending for 2009. Seemingly we do have agreement on the capital budget. In the past couple of months we have had 3 meetings set to deal with this year's budget. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Alberta Thoughts: 9 Years too Late?
http://garytaje.blogspot.com/2014/11/9-years-too-late.html
Sunday, 2 November 2014. 9 Years too Late? Not one coal mining town was mentioned in that version of our history save for Edmonton, (oil, and capital city) and Banff (noted for its bid to become the capital). What a horrible feeling to be the guest of our province and to find our host was ashamed of its history in coal and all of us that were part of or grew out of that history. Alberta Thoughts: November 2009
http://garytaje.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 10 November 2009. Copied from the website of the Saskatoon Light Infantry. On August 3rd, 1943, the Edmonton Regiment, with under command 1 Platoon M.M.G. (2 Cdn. Inf Sp. Gp. SaskLI.) was given the task of capturing a hill feature north of REGALBUTO. The country to be crossed precluded the use of mechanical transport and supplies, ammunition, and heavy weapons had to be carried on mules. While the platoon was being with drawn to cover to reorganize Cpl. Taje. Accomplished this feat single-handed...

Monday, 24 November 2014. Pierre Trudeau - Just Watch me. Above we see strength. How does it compare to what we see now from our current prime minister? Sunday, 23 November 2014. Why the US is not like Canada. I just watched a clip on youtube of Bill Maher interviewing Martin Short and he wondered why the US isn't more like Canada in its progressive nature. Saturday, 22 November 2014. Conservative wins in boring Yellowhead Byelection. Well guess it is back to business as usual for Harper's government.

And don't get me started on those thick, wet, late spring snowstorms so common in this region. Ah, but there's one other sign of spring hiking that needs to be noted, and observed at all costs. those grumpy, hungry bears. Links to this post. Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Hip Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: January 2012
http://hiphiker.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 1, 2012. Snowshoeing - Kananaskis Village Loop - January 10, 2010. It was almost two years ago, but what we saw still applies today. This isn't a terribly popular trail, likely because almost every time we've set out, there hasn't been enough snow. We've learned to stick with the north side of the trail that leaves from the NW side of the village parking lot, and only attempt the south half of the loop when there's plenty of snow cover to be found. Hip Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: April 2013
http://hiphiker.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 1, 2013. Highway 66 (near Elbow Falls) - April 1, 2013. This is what it looks like when you take your two year old twins on their first "hike". No child carriers, no wagon, just their little feet. And a highway closed until mid-May. One day I hope the surroundings will be more interesting than the stuff painted on the road. With 10-20 cm dumping in the city, and so much more white stuff falling in the mountains (Burstall Pass had over 25 cm base before this most recent storm even hit! It's time to start dreaming about snowshoeing! So to get through this transition, I thought we'd look back on a snowshoeing favorite. Chester Lake. Even at the trailhead. deep snow goodness! http://hiphiker.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-view-from-moose-mountain-road.html
Thursday, May 16, 2013. The view from Moose Mountain Road. The gates on Highway 66 opened yesterday and the boys were on the verge of a nap, so I steered the RAV4 out for a look at the familiar haunts. Spring may have come late this year, but we're finally through the worst of it, and the late spring/early summer hiking can begin in earnest. God, I love living here.
