We arrange a number of informal walks in the Moss Valley for our customers, their family and friends. The walks start on the Gate Inn car park at 10.00 am and are usually between 5 and 8 miles. Full details can be found on our Blog - click here. The area borders on two OS Explorer TM 269 and 278 maps and the Ordnance Survey Solution Centre have kindly produced an extract map of the Moss Valley area, click here. The edge of the Valley is reasonably well serviced by public transport. Supertram.

The Gate Inn at Troway maintains the traditions of a real country pub. Throughout the year country pub nights are organised. February sees the sloe tasting contest. In September as the nights are drawing in, Harthill Morris. The annual Marrow Competition with prizes for best in show, heaviest, longest and best dressed was held early in October for many years, however it has been superseded by emerging social trends with a home made piccalilli competition and home made Christmas cake night.

The Gate Inn is located in the hamlet of Troway just six miles from the historic Market Town of Chesterfield. Famous for its crooked spire and traditional open air market. Troway is on the edge of the Peak District in North East Derbyshire close to the border with South Yorkshire. It nestles in the Moss Valley between Eckington and Dronfield just off the B6056. The population of the hamlet in 1901 was recorded at 76 persons and over a century later it is probably about the same. T: 01246 413 280.

Whilst we do not sell food, pre-packed savoury snacks are on sale.
