It is a ceremonial tea bowl. Is a form of pottery that focuses on the unique aspects and natural imperfections found in hand built and wood fired pottery. Harvest Artists Blog: 6th grade self portraits
http://harvestart.blogspot.com/2011/04/6th-grade-self-portraits.html
Tuesday, April 17, 2012. 6th grade self portraits. The sixth grade classes starting to work on oil pastel painted self portraits. In the past, I have had the students create a grid across the black and white photo, then slowly transfer the image by drawing the lines and shapes found in each square in the grid onto grid squares on their drawing paper. However, I found that the grid drawings take a LONG time. Too long! So, we have taken a short cut and left out the drawing aspect of the project. Please con...

Free play as a guest and upload one photo at a time. The functions are limited but still quite fun. Free registered users get to upload 5 photos at a time, but the functions are still limited. And modified and edited using the most free and basic version to create a HALLOWEEN PORTRAIT! They had so much fun! Here are the results!

Friday, December 16, 2011. Mrs Watson's still life. Of course, I won't ask my students to do something that I am not willing to do myself! Here is the still life I made while the students made theirs. This was done on a large sheet of gray paper taped onto the front board. I used crayon, so there was no erasing allowed for me! Fortunately for the students, they got to use pencils. and erasers! Teacher - Miss Albaugh. Teacher - Mr. Bilbao. Teacher - Mr. Christofferson. Teacher - Mr. Fretwell. The amount o...

During the month of July 2012, I took a look back at the previous year as I found my way in the world of scrapbooking. The following is a collection of the posts from start to finish. I hope you enjoy! Just one short year ago, I was not a scrapbooker. I thought October Afternoon was a lovely fall day, that My Mind's Eye was a catchy expression and that Two Peas in a Bucket meant that I had a lot more work to do in the garden. But before I get into how exactly that all changed, let me back up a bit. If th...

Harvest Artists Blog: Starry Night
http://harvestart.blogspot.com/2012/04/starry-night.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Starry Night, by Vincent Van Gogh, is a very kid friendly artwork. It can be used to teach some of the basics of landscape (horizon line, foreground, middle ground, background) and also for teaching about using our imaginations. Did you know that the village nestled quietly beneath that windy night sky does not actually exist? Vincent made up the picture from his own imagination! August 24, 2012 at 6:15 PM. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. 1st grade - facial expressions. This week in art we are going to focus on drawing faces as portraits. We will look at images of children who feel happy, sad, angry, or scared (startled). We will talk specifically about what happens to each part of the face during each emotion. For instance, have you noticed that someone who is angry pulls their eyebrows together and/or down so that scrunched up wrinkles show up on the nose? Teacher - Mrs. Daley. Teacher - Miss Maurin. Balance, U...
