2014 annual competition format. Through 6 qualifiers, 17 general game players have managed to succesfully pass the battery of tests that were designed to test them. All these players have performed admirably and they are now competing to be crowned the best general game player of 2014. The competitors are asked to have their players ready starting at 9 a.m Stanford time, and are encouraged to come to the chat. The second day will consist of a double elimination bracket. And since that's where I live I was able to spend some time there meeting GGP researchers who were attending, and in particular the Stanford and New South Wales teams under Professors Genesereth and Thielsche (respectively), who are behind the Coursera GGP course, which initially introduced me to the field. In the first round of the competition, the 17 players were tested on games ranging from hamilton to hex, and all performed admirably. Hopefully, everyone had the chance to see their players compete on the stream, and were pleased with their performance.
