Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; Iron Mum life hacks. Guest Post: Ode to Iron Mum. January 31, 2013. February: the perfect month for a bit of focus. You’ve been paid, spring’s around the corner, it’s no longer dark at 5pm, all the Christmas leftovers have been eaten or binned. And it’s only 28 days. That’s 4 weeks exactly (count ‘em). If you’re needing a bit of discipline or your resolutions flagged in those draggingly long dreary January days, tomorrow marks a whole new start.

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Reading Half Marathon – against all odds. March 2, 2014. No problem re transport though, there’s a train at 8.14 from Bramley which gets to Reading 8.30am, plenty of time for the shuttle bus to the start. Met up with a few other runners on the platform, get chatting, the display reads ‘1st train: 8:14 Reading, on time’. Marvellous. How heavy would your phone have to be before you could say it had slowed you down in a race? This is not going well. Th...

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; The new runners’ lexicon. Janathon Day 31: The End of the Journey. Or is it…? February 1, 2014. Still buzzing from Janathon. But February has traditionally been my month for Achieving Great Things: it’s nice and short, all the rich food left over from Christmas has been eaten/expired, and the snowdrops hold out the promise of spring in the not-too-distant future. Remember Feballenge. Same story this year really: as per The Plan. Janathon Day 31: T...

The Spine Race | Ogeerunner's Blog

Just another WordPress.com site. Great Blogs to Follow. January 23, 2014. I travelled up to Edale the day before the race with everybody’s race mum, Nici Griffin. We certainly had a great laugh on the train ride up although due to someone dicking about on the track we ended up missing our connection to Edale and had a 2hr layover at Sheffield. Finally getting to Edale we met up with some old friends, Sam Robson. Javed Bhatti, Neil Bryant/Brie. Just how wrong can a man be? Photo courtesy of Neil Brie.

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; Eating clean, feeling good. The new runners’ lexicon. February 2, 2014. You probably know Douglas Adams’s Meaning of Liff: ‘things that there should be words for but aren’t’. He saw that place names were vastly under-utilized, while a whole swathe of human experience was without a word to define it with sufficient precision, so he put the two together. Genius. My personal favourite is ‘ SCOSTHROP. Vb) To run in an entirely new place, for example w...

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; Bramley (Top) Ten. The new runners’ lexicon. Eating clean, feeling good. February 11, 2014. But it’ll still be a heap of fun). This month the focus is on food, which is a troublesome thing to be focusing on. My relationship to food is no more troubled than most women’s but frankly that’s not saying much. It’s fuel, treat, comfort, enemy, reward, indulgence, penance, depending on the day and what the scales say. Any favourite detox/vegan recipes?
