i took some pictures

I took some pictures. Optical musings through the lens of a Seattleite. Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Light, flowers, RAW! Alright, once again I'm way overdue for a post. So here it is. I took some pictures of the spring that was appearing around me. In case anyone was wondering, we here in Seattle also got some snow in late March! Preposterous. Winter won't leave, but spring was determined and I captured her while she was here briefly. One last spring adventure! I went to Yakima with my boyfriend and his dad...

i took some pictures: January 2013

http://www.itooksomepictures.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

I took some pictures. Optical musings through the lens of a Seattleite. Sunday, January 13, 2013. Before putting away the Christmas decorations (really late, I know), I wanted to capture some shots of my beautiful angel. I crafted her when I was a wee child and she holds a special place in my heart and our living room every Christmas. The other day she was bored. I told her to go outside, followed her, and documented the following adventure. She whined after rolling around on the porch bench for a while.

I took some pictures. Optical musings through the lens of a Seattleite. Friday, February 8, 2013. Old Tracks by the River. So it's obvi been a while since my last post, and I was itching like crazy to get outside with my camera. I went to Al Borlin Park in Monroe, which I'm pretty sure is supposed to be named after Al Borland from Home Improvement - they just misspelled his name! I found this crate just sitting here in this spot. Convenient photo opp, so I couldn't pass it up! I love little grass sprouts...

i took some pictures: Water Drops

http://www.itooksomepictures.blogspot.com/2012/12/water-drops.html

I took some pictures. Optical musings through the lens of a Seattleite. Friday, December 28, 2012. The other week I saw some of those amazing water drop photos by professional photographers - you know, the kind with the pristine water and brilliant color and crystal clear droplet? After several hours and various locations, backdrops, containers, and camera settings, here are a few examples of the (somewhat) satisfactory results! In order to get these shots brighter than the one above, I had to increase t...

I took some pictures. Optical musings through the lens of a Seattleite. Saturday, December 29, 2012. Tripods and Focus Points - Christmas Adventures. Sitting around with my curious camera and all of the sparkly lights and decor everywhere, I shot some frames of a few of my favorite bits of Christmas magic at home. I shoot in manual mode so I can change all of the settings to my liking. Trying to shoot in low light is a problem for just about anyone, and without a tripod, it is even harder. With family he...

Simply Albany: August 2014

http://simplyalbany.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 25, 2014. Colorado Life Part 1. Monday, August 25, 2014. Well, happy August! It's officially been a full 4 months since my last post. Since April, we've moved from Albany to Colorado where I have completed my first two months of pediatric residency. In addition, we've successfully kept a basil plant alive, and I recovered four folding chairs. How to prepare for 13 hour days, and still be healthy). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Simply Albany: January 2014

http://simplyalbany.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 17, 2014. Friday, January 17, 2014. Well, I definitely missed a couple of Fridays, but that's okay. I've had a great few weeks enjoying time with family and friends, so my Friday Photo blogging has taken a back burner until today. This photo is from our first winter on the East Coast. The snow does make for a peaceful photo excursion around the neighborhood. Definitely planning on more winter photography again this year! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Autumn in New York - Crafts.

Simply Albany: Colorado Life | Part 2

http://simplyalbany.blogspot.com/2014/11/colorado-life-part-2.html

Monday, November 10, 2014. Colorado Life Part 2. Monday, November 10, 2014. Well, we've been in Colorado for almost 6 months, and it has been fantastic! There is such an expansive culture of outdoor adventuring that we can't help but join in. In our first few weeks here, we hiked to Lost Lake with some of my pediatric co-interns. Here are a few of the Children's Hospital of Colorado intern crew (and some pups)! Turns out it's still freezing at the top, even in July. What an absolutely beautiful hike!

Simply Albany: September 2014

Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Driving Across the Country and Back Part 4: The East Coast. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. As all proper road-trippers know, a journey on I-90 into NY should involve a stop at Niagara Falls. After our brief tour of Barcelona, we were ready to lay our eyes on this massive waterfall. While the American side is not as picturesque as the Canadian side, these falls are still magnificent to behold. A quick clicks of our shutters and a selfie or two later, we were off to Albany! Thurs...

Sunday, January 4, 2015. Chalkboard: People Who Love To Eat. Sunday, January 4, 2015. I've successfully completed the first 6 months of intern year in my pediatric residency in Colorado. It's been quite a journey, but I've learned a ton and am truly enjoying life as a doctor! That being said, I haven't had as much time to craft or do photography as I would like. and even less time to blog about these creative outlets. I figure I can still share a bit, even if it's not as timely as I would like.

Hey, I took that!

Hey, I took that! Sometimes you have to toot your own horn. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Just to be up front, I haven't reached mine. In fact, that's one reason I've ignored this soapbox for some time. My feelings about this subject are in flux. The way we perceive art, and assign value to the work of artists, is changing so rapidly and dramatically. The network effects of social media, have created a sea-change. Today, an image of Lizz Wright. Captured at the Century Ballroom. In Seattle, can mingle.
