Frakturs by k.a.s. Kelsey A. Smith, Fraktur Artist. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. I actually finished my first sewing project, inspired by fraktur motifs. For those of you who did not see the first post about this little rabbit trail I’m on, you can read about it here. My stitches are crooked,. Some big and overreaching,. Others small and timid. Some are hastily done,. And others carefully placed. I am wholehearted,. And I am halfhearted. But I keep going ahead. For the more stitches there are. Thank you ladie...

Frakturs by k.a.s. Kelsey A. Smith, Fraktur Artist. Thursday, May 22, 2014. The World of Fraktur. A flower from one of my frakturs, inspired by a historic piece. Fraktur—an early German American art which remains obscure to many, but beloved by those who have discovered the beauty of its worn pages, swirled and splotched with ink and age. How in the world did a girl in her twenties become an imitator of this historic art? Their broken lettering, fractured. In the end, wood and walls were not my calling&#...

Frakturs by k.a.s. Kelsey A. Smith, Fraktur Artist. Wednesday, August 20, 2014. A Pen to the Page. I still write letters. Pens and paper, stamps and envelopes, the whole nine yards. We are a culture which loves the authentic. Abraham Lincoln’s slippers, George Washington’s tea set—why do we obsess over these? In this way, it is like getting a hug, or feeling the comforting touch of a hand to my shoulder when I find a treasured letter in my mailbox. It takes time to sit down and write to someone. ...This ...

frakturs by k.a.s.: A Writer's Art: The Alphabet
http://kasfrakturs.blogspot.com/2015/01/a-writers-art-alphabet.html
Frakturs by k.a.s. Kelsey A. Smith, Fraktur Artist. Sunday, January 25, 2015. A Writer's Art: The Alphabet. Alphabets are a fascination with me. Letters were my doodles, and with some helpful direction (and a bit of persuasion) from my mother toward frakturs, letters became my art. I do find what opportunities I can among the tulips and the houses to illuminate those strange bits of language that make all the difference. And I am planning to incorporate them even more in the future. Kelsey you work is so...

http://kasfrakturs.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Frakturs by k.a.s. Kelsey A. Smith, Fraktur Artist. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. For those of you who follow my mom’s blog, rebekahlsmith.blogspot.com. You will know that she recently went to Iowa to teach a wool appliqué workshop at Wheaten Woolens. I went along as a helper, in exchange for bringing a few things with me to sell. It was an adventure, to be sure, in more than one way. I designed my own piece using frakturs as inspiration. It just came out that way! And now I am hooked! Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

http://kasfrakturs.blogspot.com/2015/01/in-new-year.html
Frakturs by k.a.s. Kelsey A. Smith, Fraktur Artist. Sunday, January 11, 2015. In A New Year. We have entered recently into a new year, and I have found it is time to blog again. I am a bit ashamed at my absence from this blog. Being in the last year of my graduate studies, the semester was even more taxing and intense than those before. I have mostly recovered thanks to some time with family and some time to get back to ink and watercolor. January 11, 2015 at 4:01 PM. January 13, 2015 at 4:14 PM.
