Blue Monk – Solo Transcription and Analysis. Friday, 14th June 2013. This is a 12 bar blues in Bb although the chord progression is placed differently than in a standard blues. Blue Monk – Solo Transcription and Analysis →. So What – Solo Transcription and Analysis. Friday, 14th June 2013. The transcription spans four bars longer than a chorus as Miles continues without clear indication to improvise into the second chorus. The famous So What has a very simple modal chord progression that gained Davis a lot of popularity as he diverted from the overtly intricate chord progressions of the bebop era. Both parts are based on the Dorian scale – A on D dorian and B on Eb Dorian...

The Chord Tone Chords | Stereo Café
https://edinburghkeyplayer.wordpress.com/2013/03/01/the-chord-tone-chords
Team Work →. The Chord Tone Chords. Friday, 1st March 2013. We’ve been told about the importance of using chord tones in improvisation. Within the past few weeks I’ve been realising more and more how this is actually meant to work. Being able to follow chord progression all the time and using the chord tones makes improvisation much more interesting and sounds better. I began to hear when I can follow chord changes and use chord tones and when I get lost. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Buddy Bo...

I got this scale chart from my piano teacher but was considering making one myself even before that. This is so you can keep track of scales you play and make sure you practice them all regularly. My Playalong | Stereo Café

So What – Solo Transcription and Analysis →. Thursday, 14th March 2013. I finally learned to play more advanced chords and recorded a quick blues playalong in F. I recorded my own one primarily because I couldn’t fine any on Youtube that would match the chord progression. Of Billie’s Bounce that we’re playing for our assessment. After trying some improvisation over the loop I can see it’s easier to hear the chord progression and find the right tones. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Buddy Bolden ...

Improv- the importance of the basics. The Chord Tone Chords →. Friday, 8th February 2013. Apparently today was our final blues improv session for we’ll be moving on to some more complex chord progressions. A taster of this actually came today when we tried a more jazzed-up version of a 12 bar blues. My impression today was I was able to play ideas that I was able to hear. I was successfully conveying what my imagination came up with. At least most of the time. Especially hearing intervals is crucial where.

The Chord Tone Chords. My Playalong →. Saturday, 9th March 2013. After the rehearsal today one thing struck me i.e. how much of our performance depends on teamwork. I was convinced after some practicing the night before my improvisation. Was going to be much better than the week before. I had the impression I was finally able to hear what I wanted to play. But I was wrong. Also, when improvising to playalongs hearing chord changes. Is much easier than in a rehearsal room. This entry was posted in HND 2.

plugboard: Electroacoustic
http://theplugboard.blogspot.com/2009/04/electroacoustic.html
The Plug festival of new music, and. Other events around Glasgow. Thursday, 30 April 2009. I missed the afternoon concert of Plug, through at Stevenson College Edinburgh. Teaching, but got back through to Glasgow in good time for the electroacoustic concert; to be precise a concert of works for instrument plus live electronics and/or 'tape', as we still rather charmingly call prerecorded material. It was a great gig. The first piece we heard was Mays' ('maze…'). Of all things, on the clarinet.
