Pineridge Runner: March Mileage Madness
http://pineridgerunner.blogspot.com/2011/03/march-mileage-madness.html
Saturday, March 5, 2011. The long course has all the climbs of the short course plus the big climbs to the top of Horsetooth Rock and Aurthur's Rock. This will add another 3000 feet to the day. Pete and I ran this route at a casual pace last spring and I think it took us around 7 hours. There are multiple places to fill water and even some bathrooms along the way. I don't know if we'll be able to set up any aid stations, so you'll need to plan on carrying all your food and gear. March 7, 2011 at 7:23 AM.

Running Commentary: Running with Animals (and Pirates)
http://anodynerunning.blogspot.com/2012/11/running-with-animals.html
A treatise on one person's continuous quest to see what's over the next hill. Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Running with Animals (and Pirates). Yesterday, while jP was running with the other kids, I did a few laps at the high school track. Unfortunately, the group run was shorter than usual, so I just had time for a mile warm-up and 2x1 mile at just under 6, a whopping one 200m interval and a 400m cool down. Sigh. Elk intervals at the Evergreen High School track. This big feller was busy keeping a noisy h...

A treatise on one person's continuous quest to see what's over the next hill. Friday, November 16, 2012. I don't run in the morning very often. Family/work obligations typically get in the way. I'd have to get up so damn early to get in a run before it's time to herd kids. But, today, I had to use running as my AT (alternate transportation) after I dropped a car off at the repair shop. Looking up Noble Meadow in Elk Meadow Open Space. Two mornings in a row? Tuesday, November 13, 2012. I ran the Mountain ...

A treatise on one person's continuous quest to see what's over the next hill. Thursday, June 20, 2013. I've seen more rattlesnakes this spring on the trails of the Front Range than I've collectively seen my whole life. Thus far, I've seen one at Mt. Falcon and two at North Table Mountain, including this guy late yesterday afternoon about a mile into a 9-mile run around the mountain. Note: things in this image may appear larger than they actually were. June 20, 2013 at 8:29 PM. Safaricom Marathon - Kenya -.

A treatise on one person's continuous quest to see what's over the next hill. Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Along with cooler temperatures and yellow aspen leaves, fall brings to Evergreen bull elk and their harems. Here's a collection of pics of a few of the herds I've spotted around town the last couple of weeks. And, there's something primal and, at the same time, soothing about hearing the bugling call of bull elk during the rut. That sound seems to echo through the hills up here. I opted to run from ...

A treatise on one person's continuous quest to see what's over the next hill. Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Or, maybe the startling and loud chittering of an unseen squirrel as you race by her tree. .or the distant "screeee" of a red-tailed hawk wheeling somewhere overhead. These are the sights and sounds that warm the heart, and sometimes make the heart race, all contributing to the sensory treat that is trail running. My first thought was, "Where did this guy come from? It didn't appear that he was. He...
