Joel Ryan KA 222. Windsurfing adventures and stories from around Australia and the world. Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Hard to believe it's been 12 months since we were here. but we're back! Yesterday was the first good swell for a few days, and I managed to sail without breaking any masts! Spotty wasn't so lucky breaking one way out to sea and having a big swim in. Today is cloudy which seems weird! Lots of wind so time to go to Hookipa I think A couple of shots from yesterday. Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Everything finally came together for the first really epic winter swell of the season. One of the largest and cleanest swells to hit to Victorian coast in a long time was forecast to hit on a Saturday morning (finally swell when I don’t have to work! And even more importantly with a forecast 30knots Westerly! For once the swell actually hit as big as it was forecast to!

Joel Ryan KA 222. Windsurfing adventures and stories from around Australia and the world. Sunday, September 4, 2011. Finally we scored a little bit of wind to try out the new toys! A nice sunny day with a 25-30knot Northerly was a good place to test a couple of the 2012 North sail designs. The new ID is a light weight wave sail. I used the 5.4 and it was good. Noticeably light when sailing it, it was very easy to use. The all new model in the range is the Hero. Awesome! Only way to describe it!

As our time here on Maui draws to a close, I feel like I have almost fully adjusted to the Maui time. There’s been no shortage of wind. We have been on the water everyday for over 2 weeks now. We could not have timed this any better. Full time employment this year has resulted in less skiing and windsurfing more working and having to spend way more money on getting those few days, just to keep my sanity. Good mate and top ski buddy Nick Hooper and I spent 2 weeks in Jackson this past February. A Tiny Day in the Jackson Hole Backcountry.
