Kate Tiler Introduction
http://katetiler.co.uk/introduction.html
Also known as Kate Tiler. My business began as a hobby almost 15 years ago, when I answered an advert to live as a Tudor. I took on another identity as Kate, rather than Karen, because Karen isnt a very Tudor name. The effort involved in researching and making the tools that I needed to make tiles seemed well worth the reward of claiming a shed as a Tile workshop. (pictured left). Please contact me for more details if you are interested in booking me for an event or school visit, or if you wish to commis...

Arts and Crafts for all ages and abilities. An example of the artwork created by special needs teenagers who I enjoy working with. Beginning by making medieval encaustic tiles using my carved pattern blocks, once they became confident with the material we moved onto creating designs for their own encaustic tiles. Smudging while storytelling helps create the atmosphere. Beasts created by 6 and 7 year olds. are used to decorate the wall of the school garden. Adult Education can be enjoyed as a relaxing hob...
Medieval Tiles
http://katetiler.co.uk/page5.html
Lys Medieval tiles and my Green Man tile -. Medieval Tile designs are faithful to the originals, dating from the mid thirteenth to mid sixteenth century. I carve a pattern block from wood for each design and the stamped impression is filled with a slip inlay. The final colour is determined by the strength of the honey glaze, which I vary to recreate the variations found in the original woodfired ceramics. Baby Feet and Hands. Or telephone 01949 860959.
Commissions
http://katetiler.co.uk/page4.html
Commission for a Shamanic Floor in a Nottingham Restaurant. My first commission -. Something of which I am very proud. Making this floor was a big leap of faith and the point at which I committed to making my living as an artist. I made the leap and am still flying. Please contact me if you are interested in commissioning new work. Baby Feet and Hands. Or telephone 01949 860959.
Baby hands and feet tiles

Baby Hand and Feet Tiles. An delightful permanent artwork created by your childs hands and feet. So tactile and immediate, an heirloom to keep or to give to your family as an extra special gift. The first thing youll want to do is place your own hand into the impression of these tiny fingers and toes and feel just how small they are. Baby Sam enjoys getting his hands into the clay! Why not get together with friends or organise an afternoon at your playgroup? Baby Feet and Hands. Or telephone 01949 860959.

The Tudor / Medieval / Jacobean / Queen Anne Dollhouse Project: Some nice things in the post!
http://tudordollhouse.blogspot.com/2013/03/some-nice-things-in-post.html
Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Some nice things in the post! My husband and his brother are paneling the ceiling in our real living room ( I wish it could go as quickly as things can in dolls' house scale) so I haven't been able to do much mini-ing. But the post has brought some lovely things. I received my order from Sue Cook today - more on that soon. My new front door is going to be amazing, and I'm really glad that I rethought the approach I was going to take. March 21, 2013 at 8:33 AM. This blog chronic...

The Tudor / Medieval / Jacobean / Queen Anne Dollhouse Project: Four poster bed in William and Mary House
http://tudordollhouse.blogspot.com/2013/02/four-poster-bed-in-william-and-mary.html
Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Four poster bed in William and Mary House. Here's the bed in situ in the bedroom of the William and Mary House - I really love how it looks, even before I make and embroider the hangings! The pinkish velvet-covered mattress came with it, and looks just fine, actually - goes very well with the wallpaper, at least :). The chair is a Bespaq I picked up cheaply on eBay - so typical of the period. February 26, 2013 at 1:45 PM. February 28, 2013 at 3:32 AM. Links to my tutorials.

The Tudor / Medieval / Jacobean / Queen Anne Dollhouse Project: 1:144 scale ticket office
http://tudordollhouse.blogspot.com/2013/03/1144-scale-ticket-office.html
Sunday, March 24, 2013. 1:144 scale ticket office. Well, here I am, scratch building a 1:144 mini! Isn't it interesting the paths our lives take us down? I'm using sheet styrene molded to look like clapboard, plus tiny windows and doors by Tichy Trains. And I'm thinking about making tiny hanging flower baskets so I think I'm officially round the twist . March 24, 2013 at 11:42 PM. Your eyes must be a LOT better than mine to be able to work that small. Kudos and congratulations! March 25, 2013 at 4:44 AM.

Friday, October 16, 2009. Lighting your dolls house. I'll admit it, lighting the dolls castle is one of the most appealing aspects of the project for me, so I want to learn as much as possible about it. Here's a link to my own articles on the subject: Electrical fixtures and wiring. Here are some useful links I'm collecting on the subject:. Hints and Tips on Lighting - another great article. Lots of other tips at this site, too. A great article at the Laura Anne Dolls House site. April 4, 2013 at 7:44 AM.
