Ovenless in China: Where in the world?
http://ovenlessinchina.blogspot.com/p/where-in-world.html
Where in the world? Read all about it! Where in the world? To paraphrase the hotel concierge in Shanghai. Why on earth are we living in Jiangyin? It's a city of 1.2 million but the only way to get here is on "the bus with the farmers, and no one speaks English." And yet here we are. Well, in June 2010 Brian came home from work one day, excited that he'd been offered a promotion. In China. Jiangyin to be exact. If you follow the Yangtze upriver on the map, we're about 2 hours northwest of Shanghai.

This time were off to the Philippines and Thailand. Heres the highlights of our coming month. After arriving in Manila, well take a pleasant 10 hour bus ride to Banaue, where well spend 3 days hiking the rice terraces. Then it is off to Puerto Princesa for a few days before leaving for a scuba liveaboard to Tubbataha.

http://ovenlessinchina.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Where in the world? Read all about it! Tuesday, May 31, 2011. I've been keeping a list of things I wanted to write about here on Ovenless, but none of them were long enough to stretch in to an entire post. So here's a smattering of memorable moments. Stella on a huge explosion of fireworks in our apartment complex: "Someone's dead or getting married. You need those for both.". She said this so deadpan, it struck me as hilarious. I made my first phone call spoken entirely in Chinese! I consider it a succe...

We talk a lot about screen time regulations for Henry, a member of the Touch Screen Generation. We limit access, but we definitely use it, both as a tool for learning and for entertaining. I wore my hair like this. For the Virginia Opera Gala last weekend. It was a perfect match for my Grecian-style gown. We were not alone.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009. 2009 Europe Trip - The condensed version. Due to the following factors: 1) lack of time 2) my immense enjoyment in posting pictures on Facebook and 3) the fact that I have several other things I want to blog about, I have decided to forgo the traditional approach to assigning a blog to each of the cities I visited. Instead in this blog for each of the remaining cities I will post one picture and give you my 5 favorite things from that experience. 4) Walking around in the rain.

There are so many things I want to share this week that warrant their own thoughtful post, so I'm hoping to carve our more time for writing this week. Until then. I gave B a knife skills class for Christmas, and now we're both obsessed with our chef's knife! I love these tutorials. I always wondered how to shred cabbage.
