Sunday, January 26, 2014. January 29, 1959. Saw the release of arguably one of the most beautiful animated features Walt Disney. Had ever released. Ken Anderson. Walt's "Jack of all trades" may have been assigned as the Production Designer but it was the singularly original style created by Eyvind Earle. That gave the film it it's memorable look. After a catastrophic painting session last Sunday, I mustered up enough courage to go outside into the real world and give painting another try. There is no "undo" button in the real world, especially with water colors, but it is important to learn how to make definite choices and keep moving forward. The goal was to apply the paint quickly and loosely while trying to achieve a balanced / representative look with the final image. After painting on huge walls, this 11"x14" canvas was a cinch! Friday, October 26, 2012. Some cool things have happened since day 100. I completed work on an interesting freelance animation project. Illustrated my first children’s book. Also a freelance job. Not long after Day 0 I saw a video of Glen Keane, a great animator who recently retired from Disney. 30 years of working for a major corporation he wanted to explore the ART of animation. Here is a brief video I edited with some interesting advice and relatable situations. The color was applied in Photoshop.
