Siturile Natura 2000 sunt zone care adăpostesc cele mai reprezentative, valoroase și rare specii animale sălbatice și plante şi habitate din Uniunea Europeană. Acestea sunt înființate doar în statele membre ale Uniunii Europene și formează o rețea de arii naturale protejate de importanță comunitară Europeană, sau Rețeaua Natura 2000. Înfiinţarea acestor arii naturale protejate a fost obligatorie pentru fiecare dinte statele membre ale Uniunii Europene.
