Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Layout Construction - October 12, 2009. Now that all of the benchwork is secure and the pink foam is glued down, it was time to concentrate on the bridge/tunnel area. I added the supports for the bottom of the creek and top of the tunnel. A view through the east tunnel entrance. The pegboard masonite will be covered and not visible after the scenery is put in. At this point the cork roadbed has glued down, but the track has not been set. I Can See the Light. Links to this post.

I'm working on my new On30 portable layout, and I decided that since I can't get Luaan Plywood here in Utah, that I'd just make it out of standard plywood. My friend Blaine is a member of the local NMRA here in Salt Lake. He volunteered to help me saw the lumber. What I didn't know was that he has an amazing wood shop and is a master carpenter! I'll never forget going there for the first time and marking it off my bucket list. A model train store (no race cars or planes) and they have grocery carts. Not kidding!
