April 19, 2010. On racing and racing some more. I got a puncture a few hundred meters before the finish line but managed to limp to the end. Note the manly bike rack. Fuel, something I've discovered is rather important. Pix by Jaxattacks. There is a lot of racing going on on Vancouver Island these days. There are the Island Cup mountain bike series. December 28, 2010. A great cycling year is coming to an end. There has been some developments in my life that have enabled me to ride my bike more than before and I've tried to take advantage of that. March 22, 2010. On racing xc and suffering (kind of the same thing). Practicing a track stand at the start line, Tyler Johnson is behind me (out of the frame) trying to throw me off my balance. He eventually succeeded. Coming onto the bridge on crossover on my first lap, post crash. (photos: Dave Shiskoff's. Camera shot by Alyssa). Now and things are going great there. Monday, May 31, 2010. Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series. Yesterday marked the end of the 3 day Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series here in Victoria. Overall the event went very well. Rider's Cycles had Katie Cross, one of our sponsored athletes, racing in all 3 events. As well Amy Dearden, Colin Hynes and Shayne Alexander raced some of the events too. Here are her Stats:. Bremsur sem virka almennilega eru mikilvægt öryggistæki og því mikilvægustu íhlutirnir (komponentarnir). Nokkrar grunntegundir finnast á notuðum hjólum:. Diskabremsur eru almennt góðar en ég þekki þær þó ekki vel. V-bremsur eru bestu „gjarðabremsurnar“. Fótbremsur eru almennt góðar og viðhaldslitlar. Þær mæli ég samt með að prófa áður en hjólið er keypt.

En hversu mikið og hvernig viðhald eru mjög skiptar skoðanir um, fátt í hjólreiðaheiminum er eins umdeilt. Því er mjög líklegt að flestir lesendur viti betur en ég og það skal ekki rengt. Öll gagnrýni er vel þegin. Keðjan, smá fræði (sem má alveg sleppa að lesa). Núningsflöturinn milli kefla og platna. Þessi flötur er ekki mikilvægur fyrir virkni keðjunnar og er ekki undir álagi.

Að geta hjólað í öllum veðrum og hvaða færi sem er krefst reyndar sérhæfðs útbúnaðar, en kostnaðurinn þarf ekki að vera meiri en sem nemur örfáum bensínáfyllingum á bíl. Það mikilvægasta er að vera með góð ljós og á góðum nagladekkjum. Vindurinn er svosem ekkert meiri en á sumrinn heldur. Við þurfum ljós, endurskin og skæra liti! Það er blautt...

Í gegnum tíðina hafa fastgírshjól einnig verið notuð í brekkuklifri og svo auðvitað í Track keppnum í hjólreiðahöllum (velodrome) þar sem þau eru notuð enn þann dag í dag. Lárétt dropout eru mikilvæg til þess að hægt sé að strekkja keðjuna, en hægt er að nota keðjustrekkjara ef um lóðrétt dropout er að ræða. Það er gaman að hjóla á þeim!
