As Director of the City of Cork Male Voice Choir for almost thirty years, he has led the Choir to success at major festivals both at home and abroad. He has been involved in many major operatic events with the Choir from Cork City Opera in the early eighties to Opera Cork today and has been instrumental in bringing many distinguished soloists to Irish audiences. The Company gave its inaugural concert in the Cork Opera House on December 1. This was soon followed by its first, highly acclaimed, major production of Verdi’s. Since then the Company has presented Carmen (Bizet). And The Merry Widow (Lehar). All these productions featured national and international soloists, orchestra, sets, costumes etc. and were models of financial economy taking place against a background of indifference from the Arts Council.
