One Word | Patrick Day

https://patrickday.org/2017/01/05/one-word

Reflections on life and faith. January 5, 2017. Benjamin Franklin used to carry a list of virtues with him, and each day when he attained one of those virtues, he would place a check on the list. At some point he checked off every virtue except one: humility. His contention was as soon as he felt he was being humble, then he was no longer being humble. Don’t use these: arrogance, selfishness, jerky jerk-face. Those won’t get you very far. What words would you add? Christians and Freedom of Speech →.

Radio Silent | Patrick Day

Reflections on life and faith. August 4, 2016. I’ve been quiet the last couple months. Part of that has been unintentional. Summer schedules have made it a little more difficult to find time to sit down. Trump gets burned with this one word Tweet. Hillary destroyed with this letter from a veteran. The clowns on the left. The morons on the right. Type stuff like that, and I stop reading. I’m done. Passion does not equal rudeness. 8220;Dear Bill,. You will be our. President when you read this note. I w...

The Whole Picture | Patrick Day

https://patrickday.org/2016/09/29/the-whole-picture

Reflections on life and faith. September 29, 2016. October 28, 2016. I hurt myself working out in the middle of August. Tweaked my back. It would not have been so bad, except it happened on the morning of a day when I had to be in the car for 2 hours to sit in a conference for 6 hours, only to drive back for 2 hours to sit in another meeting for 3 hours. Over the last month, I’ve been able to get back into it. Life is better. Behind the Wheel →. One thought on “ The Whole Picture. Enter your comment here.

family | The Accidental Minister

September 8, 2015. Last night, Labor Day, we had the nicest family get together. David started fussing on Sunday afternoon over what to prepare. We shopped and then he made a beautiful peach pie. I sat and watched all of this and marveled at the gift that a family can be as we drank decaf and ate peach pie with vanilla ice cream. Elias finished his and then asked for a popsicle too. We indulged him when he asked for four bowls so he could pretend to serve us ice cream. The Heart of a Pastor. Janet Toth o...

Leaving Home | The Accidental Minister

https://theaccidentalminister.com/2016/12/18/leaving-home

December 18, 2016. Just found this is my WordPress file. It’s interesting to read at the end of my first year in St. Clair. Makes me smile to remember, and quite honestly, I’m so happy that God called me to this place! I’m not naïve though. I know that after a year of getting to know one another we’ll begin to learn about the issues that we’ll want to work on during our time together. No congregation is perfect since they’re all made up of people. Right? So, let’s do this! Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Thursday Prayer | The Accidental Minister

August 4, 2016. This is a wonderful prayer. I need to keep it close at hand so I’m adding it to my blog. Thank you Erin Counihan. Today I went to a meeting that wasn’t there. Because it’s not scheduled for two more weeks. Because I’m too frazzled to notice which week it is. Because I think I need to do it al. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. SEASONS | The Accidental Minister

October 18, 2016. Listening to the breeze; the wind in the trees,. Leaves spin and dance and fall. Flutter, Rustle and blow away,. So many colors, earthy and bright; large or small’ maple and oak and beech and…. Fall is almost here. Chilly air. Warm air. Shadows and sun. Indian summer will come for a day or two and then. Darker nights. Shorter days, it’s almost time. To settle in for the winter we know will arrive. And we’ll continue our ticking off of time. One thought on “SEASONS”. The Heart of a Pastor.

All posts by alanak227. Turns out ministry is so much more than I ever thought it would be. Everyday is a new adventure. Challenges are abundant. Helping people deal with hardship and loss seems to be required at the most unexpected times. Experiencing God who shows up so often and in so many surprising ways is why I love being the minister of a church. December 18, 2016. She came up to our house where we were playing outside. A Certain Kindness | The Accidental Minister

https://theaccidentalminister.com/2016/12/17/a-certain-kindness

December 17, 2016. Thanks to Matt Fitzgerald, for his meditation on the very brief Scripture verse, “Do good, O Lord, for those who are good.”. Thank God for parents and teachers who have learned that the most important lessons to be learned in school don’t necessarily revolve around subjects taught like math, English, history and Science. Thank God for students who open their hearts to others in a much more accepting way than we ever did when we were in Junior High School. Oh God, give goodness to that ...
