2006 European Festivals Tour

2006 European Festivals Tour. Thursday, September 14, 2006. Pictures from Wolfgang Sawallisch's Grassau home. Philadelphia Orchestra musician Harold Robinson with former Philadelphia Orchestra Music Director Wolfgang Sawallisch at the Maestro's Grassau, Germany home. Posted by Hal Robinson @ 7:55 AM. Finally, it was time to go. Many hugs and warm embraces later, I rushed down the side of the hill with a tremendous summer storm just breaking. The weather seemed to echo my feelings. 2006 European Festivals Tour: Rosie

http://philorch.blogspot.com/2006/09/rosie.html

2006 European Festivals Tour. Tuesday, September 05, 2006. Nothing motivates like performing before colleagues and we knew that sprinkled in the audience would be members of the BP. The concert was a tremendous success and rest assured nothing was left out on that stage. Posted by David Kim @ 3:12 PM. You are far too kind. And the orchestra and all the travellers were very patient with us bumbling first time parents. It was a great tour! Preparing for the first flight.

2006 European Festivals Tour. Wednesday, September 06, 2006. On a personal note, my baby Rosalie has adjusted well to the time difference, and even the frequent boarding of buses, trains, and airplanes. Now when we get home will she be cheerfully awakening at 2 am to start the day? Update Sept 6 - we arrived home safely, and Rosie woke up at 2:30 am with a smile. Posted by Juliette @ 3:24 AM. Greetings to all of you in my favorite orchestra! But I sure am grateful that you do! I was hugely disappointed t...

2006 European Festivals Tour. Thursday, August 31, 2006. After a triumphant concert in Hamburg last night, the orchestra piled on to a train for the ride to Essen. One week left on this tour and laundry is now becoming a critical issue. Posted by David Kim @ 6:50 AM. Preparing for the first flight.

2006 European Festivals Tour: Written September 1

http://philorch.blogspot.com/2006/09/written-september-1.html

2006 European Festivals Tour. Thursday, September 14, 2006. It was an ambitious itinerary including train to Munich and then auto to Grassau. I did take German in high school many years ago, which helped a little, but I am far from conversational. Janet Garner, my sweetheart, accompanied me on the trip. Finally, it was time to go. Many hugs and warm embraces later, I rushed down the side of the hill with a tremendous summer storm just breaking. The weather seemed to echo my feelings. Hal Robinson, bass.

Ramen of Kansai and elsewhere. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Sanku (Osaka-shi, Fukushima-ku). Kake ramen: 17 /20. We had plans to go to Komi. To continue our Ra-Sai. We were first served some kind of simmered potato with a little bit of meat as an appetizer, a nice start. I ordered their regular dish, the ‘kake ramen’. It was salty, very fishy (with some slight pugency due, I presume, to niboshi), intense in taste, and had an interesting graininess in mouth. Delicious! Some spinach (or maybe komatsuna? And a...

Philadelphia Orchestra 2007 United States Tour

Monday, June 2, 2008. Reversal of Fortune while touring with the Orchestra. Cellist Bob Cafaro with his feet on the ground in Seoul, Korea. After this it makes me wonder if anyone would really want to tour with the Orchestra. If you still do remember some rules: Number one, you have to have the stomach for it and number two, sit with someone else when we fly. :). Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Take Me Out to the Ball Game. I had been waiting to play in benaroya hall after hearing so much about it. 4 of my ...

Philadelphia Orchestra Tour

Follow along with the Orchestra's tour of Asia. Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Now, from Hong Kong. The past week was busy with successful concerts and long distance travel from Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur, to Singapore, then to Hong Kong. The concert hall in Singapore, at the Espanade, was, I think, a Russell Johnson creation similar to Verizon Hall in the Kimmel Center. Our sound easily reverberated throughout the interesting interior. Kuala Lumpur, Petronis Towers. Jason DePue joined a duo in Hong Kong. Jet Lag and...
