My recent research is mostly on the metaphysics of art. In particular, I’m interested in what sort of entities artworks are, how they differ from mundane objects, and why these questions matter for our critical and appreciative practices. I’m also interested in what sort of entities ideas are, and how best to understand the relationship between art and ideas.

Requiring that all students take an introductory level course prior to enrolling in upper-level courses ensures that all such courses are true advanced courses, in the sense that these courses expand on basic philosophical concepts, problems, and/or figures introduced in lower-level courses. Allows each faculty member to regularly teach in a lower level course and thus precludes the need for adjuncts, etc., and provides students the opportunity to work with professors.
