D4sign: September 2014
http://dd4sign.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, 4 September 2014. I have been out of the D&D racket for some time, away on a quest to increase my skill points in Space Engineering, but I have come across two sources of media which I think are worth passing on. The first is Tabletop Audio. And the second is the Critical Hit podcast. This will be a short post with my thoughts on how these two pieces of media can help you with your RPG adventures! Thursday, 30 April 2015. Magic Is Not A Tech Crutch. Ive seen a few interesting thoughts on the interaction between magic and technology. A common argument is that advanced technology would not develop in a world with magic because magic works as a sort of crutch that negates any need for scientific advancement. If you can shoot fireballs and beams of force from your fingertips, why would you need a gun? Personally, Id argue the opposite: a world with magic would develop technology at a faster. Hey, I pu...

Sunday, 13 April 2014. How To Build A Campaign. I think I've talked a bit before about how I approach worldbuilding and designing a campaign, but a thread on the D&D subreddit asking how DMs prepare their campaigns got me thinking about a concise summary of my approach. So here's a slightly-longer-than-I'd-intended list:. Start with an idea for a story or world. Something like "dragons secretly run every country and are playing a game for control of the world". Timeline of pivotal events in history.

We here, at D4sign, have been playing many games and sometimes it is easy to lose track of things. True to its name, we have been playing The Long Game. I also found that while this was much shorter, it was still longer than the average reader may wish to peruse. Therefore, I have written an even shorter. The Short Versio...

Friday, 4 October 2013. Building A Scarier Scarecrow. Its October, and Halloween is getting closer, so when I think about D&D I think a little more about horror elements than I usually do. . Scarecrows have been D&D monsters for quite a long time - since the beginning, really. Ive only been playing since 3rd edition, but the internet tells me that the scarecrow goes all the way back to the 1e Fiend Folio. Posted by Dominic Matte. Wednesday, 2 October 2013.
