Resources – Y9. Yet another great Show and Tell event! This time, the second NALA Show and Tell, which took place at the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester. For a comprehensive review of the day, obviously Dominic McGladdery’s blog. Is the place to go, as ever. My contribution looked at finding accessible, authentic reading texts for learners, and I shared the links below. There are probably more, and better, sites available, but these are the ones I’ve been looking at recently. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Resources – Y9. It was a pleasure to be the keynote speaker for Sanako’s TILT ( T. Eaching) event on 26th June. It was different to be talking about something other than my employer’s stuff for a change! If you’d like to see the links I mentioned, you’ll find them all. I owe a huge debt of thanks to all the #mfltwitterati, through whom I have discovered many of these sites – all mentioned by name at the event if I could recall who introduced me to each particular link🙂. Shout, shout, let it all out:.

Resources – Y9. Here is where you’ll find resources, comments, updates etc for the trial work with Year 9. For my initial ramblings on the subject, click here. For resources in a straightforward list, click here. Tab at the top of the page. Preparation – part 1: A Good Start. I brought these four together during our Tuesday lesson, and outlined my plan. They were all very keen and enthusiastic, so I handed them the planning documents, and they spent the lesson working out how to take the plan forward.

Welcome to the rambling thoughts of a 40-something languages teacher with too much time on his hands, most of it spent in the kitchen. If you have any comments or questions about language learning or resources please email or follow me on twitter @dominic mcg. Wednesday, 29 October 2014. Many teachers, parents and students can see no educational value in wordsearch puzzles. As a teacher of languages I often find that they can be quite useful. To engage students who struggle to read. Personally, I'm not t...

Charting the learning process in a Modern Languages classroom. Saturday, 7 March 2015. Ililc5 Ryan Hoy @Taisez marking. The above quote is from @marymyatt, an inspector who tweets and blogs. Ryan asked in his session "How do we mark? We did a sample marking exercise showing that we use different systems, eg using highlighters, using a code eg circle and W for word. Pupils have hugely different experiences of marking and they can struggle with this. Posted by A Salt. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

So thanks once again to the wonderful MFL Resources Yahoo group where Rachel Hawkes caught my interest posting about Chris Fullers' game Rock, Paper, Scissors, Evolution. I have played it with 6 different classes in the past two days and they all loved it. It sounds more complicated than it is, it only takes a few minutes so it's a great starter and kids of all ages loved it #win.
