https://xgoddessx.wordpress.com/2013/08/31/the-ring
Welcome to the Pain Cave. It never always gets worse. Miles covered: 48.7 (Edinburg Gap) of 70.8 mi. 2013 results: http:/ www.vhtrc.org/results/ring13.htm. Those who finish join the Fellowship of the Ring and are granted the “privilege” of running the Reverse Ring. In February. The Ring also happens to be a Fat Ass run (no entry fees, no awards, no t-shirts); support comes from the generous sponsorship of the VHTRC. At 7 am, forty-six of us began. From the very start, I just plodded along, mildly hop...

Iron Mountain Trail Runner: November 2014
http://imtrunner.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Iron Mountain Trail Runner. Friday, November 7, 2014. The Russell Fork River. Flows through southwest Virginia and southeastern Kentucky and over time has carved a canyon into Pine Mountain now called, Breaks Canyon. I’ve had fun exploring the trails inside the park and also bushwhacking down to the rapid El Horrendo. El Horrendo Class V Rapid- Russell Fork River. The trails are gnarly and steep as they plummet into the Russell Fork Gorge. We woke at 6am, broke camp and rolled into Elkhorn City with plen...

Iron Mountain Trail Runner. Friday, March 23, 2012. Past, Present, Future. No it's not a cheesy Jared Jewelry plug, it's just another blog post . It's only March and I feel like a lot of incredible runs have already taken place in 2012! With all the fun goings on, blogging has taken a back seat. A lot has happened since November so let's backup a bit and review or at least hit the highlights thus far. We started off the new year right with Eric's. Traditional Over the Top Run! These guys are no joke!

Iron Mountain Trail Runner: Good Intentions
http://imtrunner.blogspot.com/2015/05/good-intentions.html
Iron Mountain Trail Runner. Friday, May 1, 2015. Top Ten Ladies Mountain Masochist 50 Miler. Why is keeping a blog such a daunting task? I'm always amazed by my fellow runners who publish long, detailed accounts of their races the day after it's over! I mean what happened to showering, beer, food, laundry, work, sleep? I may seriously need to look into a time management coach. Here are the highlights:. 2014 ended on a high note with a top ten spot at Masochist and first female in the LUS series. Mill Sto...

Iron Mountain Trail Runner: July 2011
http://imtrunner.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Iron Mountain Trail Runner. Thursday, July 14, 2011. On the Road Again. Leaving the ASU track. The questionable factor here is that Grandfather Marathon is a ROAD race and the last road marathon I participated in was in 2007, 4 whole years ago! How did that happen? Time flies when your trail running I guess? In Linville, NC. it is NOT a net downhill course :) I actually heard a runner along the course asking someone where the finish was, and if it was a loop course? So let's break it down. I have run...

Iron Mountain Trail Runner: August 2011
http://imtrunner.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Iron Mountain Trail Runner. Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Feeling a little "Cheated". For a couple of years I have wanted to run Cheat Mountain Moonshine Madness 50 Miler and it kept conflicting with life until this year when everything seemed good to go! Luckily I've been able to run again, nothing over 8 miles, but I'll take it! So even though I feel "cheated" by not getting to run Cheat, I am thankful for every mile. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Iron Mountain Trail Runner: April 2014
http://imtrunner.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Iron Mountain Trail Runner. Monday, April 7, 2014. 3's a Magic Number. Terrapin Mountain 50K is one of my favorites, a great mix of technical single track and gravel forest service roads that will not disappoint in challenge or beauty. Terrapin seems to mark the end of winter in my mind and ushers in spring after a long/cold winter. It's exciting to forget about bundling up, and just run unburdened by all the layers of protective winter gear. Heading down to AS 2 Goff Rd. 2012. I never stopped moving.

Iron Mountain Trail Runner. Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Ridge to Bridge Marathon. Waiting at the Start Brrrrrr - Photo: Randy Smith. It was a beautiful fall morning and I enjoyed chatting with Doug for the first bit as my feet began to thaw. My toes were seriously frozen! We ran through rolling rural countryside, no worry of traffic and did a short out and back (about 5.5 miles) before turning left on an unpaved road for the 9 mile descent! The Downhill Section Photo: Willie Lowe. We turned left for a s...
