hops – Running On Beer

http://www.runningonbeer.net/tag/hops

A blog about running and beer brewing. Don’t Pout Cream Stout. Friend of Hades IPA v.2. 2015 Suburban Farm Report #1. May 20, 2016. Cascade and Tettnang growing well, Columbus and Centennial not far behind. This year I expanded to a full-ish garden. I ordered a Chinook plant from Great Lakes Hops. Uhhh… I thought I ordered one! Repairs and Other Stuff. My garden is raised a little, but it is not holding up. I need to replace the 2x6s I used to build it with something stronger and more able to hold up.

Farm Report #4 – Running On Beer

http://www.runningonbeer.net/2015/beer/farm-report-3

A blog about running and beer brewing. Don’t Pout Cream Stout. Friend of Hades IPA v.2. July 26, 2015. The garden has been growing, despite getting some storm damage that was fortunately easy to repair. I did learn that the inexpensive twine that I thought would be good enough is crap and I should have used real rope. This has never flooded like this before. About a week after these pics, I checked on the cascade and tettanang hops and both were ready for picking and drying. Cascade on the dehydrator.

A blog about running and beer brewing. Don’t Pout Cream Stout. Friend of Hades IPA v.2. July 31, 2015. I was tempted to make a click-bait headline of “He throws a watermelon in a blender. You won’t believe what happens next! So like any ubergeek, I searched the Internet for things to do with a watermelon. Not long into the barrage of pages was a page about juicing it. So watermelons have a bit of sugar and a lot of water, and yeast eats sugar and makes alcohol…. Oh look, a pot of must. Off to the races!

Tag Archives: steam mop. Repair of a Shark Steam Mop. Mar 15, 2015. WifE8P was complaining that her Shark Steam mop was not producing a lot of steam. That's really the only way we clean the dining room, kitchen, and entry floors, so it's pretty important for it to work. The steam would act like it was operating, but would put out little steam. This is actually pretty easy to take apart. The only tool required is a Philips screwdriver, and there are few clips. This is the pebble. WN8UNet Amateur Radio Blog.

http://www.ke8p.us/general-stuff/another-new-years-goal-post-state-of-the-ham

Another New Year's Goal Post / State of the Ham. Jan 7, 2015. This is two out of four for me. I'm too busy. So last year I had a number of things I wanted to do. Then my radio went kaput and I still haven't fixed it. Other things happened, too. This year I am definitely going to fix. or pay someone to fix my IC-706. I will probably get into FreeDV and maybe another digital voice mode. I want to build a receiver, too, and not from a kit. I've been somewhat silent out here, but that shall change soon.

Laquo; Race Reports: Little King's 1 Mile and Flying Pig Half Marathon. New Project In The Works: GPS Data Processing. GPS household surveys are all the rage these days - all the cool kids have one, and those that don't have one seem to think they are somehow not as cool. Of course, if everyone jumped off a bridge. This is my first use of Maven. I can't say I'm really using it now, so I have a lot to learn. There are other side projects that may come out of this, but they will brought up in due time.

Laquo; Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. New Project In The Works: GPS Data Processing. Race Reports: Little King's 1 Mile and Flying Pig Half Marathon. This is a short after-thought of races run on the weekend of 5/2/2014 - 5/4/2014. The Little King's Mile is the second-annual, and I ran it last year. The Flying Pig Half Marathon is the 16th annual, and it is my first half marathon. I trailed her for only around a block (and I stayed a little to the left) and ultimately passed her south of 4th Street.

Using Variance and Standard Deviation in Trip Rate Checks

http://www.siliconcreek.net/travel-modeling/using-variance-and-standard-deviation-in-trip-rate-checks

Laquo; Frustrations with ArcObjects. Nice, Quick, Effective Sampler in R. Using Variance and Standard Deviation in Trip Rate Checks. During the peer review, one thing that we were told to look at was the variance in the cells of our cross-classification table. Like all statistics, variance needs to be looked at in context with other statistics. To illustrate this, I created some fake data In Excel. The first thing I looked at was the variance compared to the mean. What does this mean? They're a little be...

Laquo; Using Variance and Standard Deviation in Trip Rate Checks. Improved Nice, Quick, Effective Sampler in R. Nice, Quick, Effective Sampler in R. It's always good to test models. In the best case, we'd test models against a different dataset than what we used to develop data. In not-the-best-but-still-not-that-bad of cases, we'd use 80% of a dataset to estimate a model, and 20% of it to test against. These will ultimately be part of something larger, but so far, so good. RFduino and the Physical Web. Jan 14, 2015. I happened to stumble on an advertisement for a cool looking device that would work with a phone via Bluetooth. It was ideally something that would be used for things like movie times, bus waiting times, or something else small and URL based. kinda like a QR code without the annoying camera part. So I got a pair of RFduinos. The library comes with an example program accessible under File-Examples-RFduinoBLE-AdvertisementContinuous. Where This Is Going. Rather t...

Running On Beer | A blog about running and beer brewing

A blog about running and beer brewing. This Blog: One Year Later. August 15, 2015. So I’ve had this blog for about a year. In the first blog post on this blog, I talked about running a bit, and a little bit about beer. I’ve posted 9 posts about running. I’ve since lost 15 pounds and then re-gained some after I developed an injury (which has kept me from running since May). I did PR in the 5K in January with a 24:10 (7:46 minutes per mile! I’ve posted 42 posts about beer. I owe a lot of what I’ve le...
