That is illegal and then there will be the cyclist vs pedestrian issue, where the city bylaws will favour the pedestrian. The other option is more bike infrastructure. I cannot believe the number of cars I have seen over this last year that completely ignore stop signs (and I have had 2 close calls at same intersection, within 1 week) and even red lights. The problem here is that, as all cyclists know, when cars make a mistake a cyclist can be killed, and if a cyclist makes a mistake then the cyclist can be killed. From → In The News. Last week I volunteered to man a table for Cyclepalooza. So I just have to say that if you are willing, longer urban rides are still a great alternative to being stuck in a car.
