To become an amateur radio operator, a written exam must be passed to obtain a license. There are three amateur radio license classes, the following chart summarizes each one. Requirements: Passing the 35 question Element 2 exam. Privileges: All VHF/UHF amateur bands. And limited privileges on HF bands. Current exam questions are valid. July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2018. June 25-26, 2016. ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air amateur radio event held annually on the 4th weekend in June in the United States and Canada. Field Day is a training exercise for setting up emergency radio communications which would take place in an actual disaster. Field Day is also a contest to make as many contacts as possible. Club meetings are 8 times a year at 7:00pm on the 2nd Monday of the month. Location: Decatur County Sheriff's Department. Main conference room. Address: 138 East Main St, Decaturville, TN 38329. Decatur County Amateur Radio Club, callsign KW4DC. Was formed in 2009 by a group of amateur radio operators who wanted to promote and enjoy the amateur radio hobby together. Our club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and an ARRL. We offer testing for amateur radio licenses, more information here. Our meetings are open to the public, more information here.
