August 12, 2011. Built in 1922 this stone house in Tavakli village was purchased in July 2011 and work started on its renovation in August. The house sits in a plot of land 636 m2 in size. The house is built on a stone foundation and is made of stone and brick. The house is in reasonably good order but there will be an extensive renovation project to provide it with more comfortable living accommodation. May 20, 2013. The basement area is now complete with a depot and office room which extends under the house and balcony. Ridge tiles have been placed along the top wall of the garden where the wall has been raised by approximately 18 inches. The balcony now complete with railings. Shutters finished in Smooth Blue Hammerite paint. Front view of building and new garden walls. Extended and raised garden wall with ridge tiles. Stairs down to office and depot rooms. The new balcony with railings complete.

October 25, 2013. Work has commenced on the second house, the frame is now finished and the roof on. In this house a metal frame supports the roof tiles. January 3, 2013. The outside of the house looks pretty much as we left it although the garden is barren and dug over for winter. Some steps lead up to the garden and down to the depot area which will have its doors and windows fitted next week. New House May 2014. June 1, 2014. The new house is now ready for its fitted kitchen and bathroom fittings. Essentially it is almost ready for use. Since this house has been designed from scratch unlike the main accommodation it does have better insulation and is more up to date in terms of its fixtures and fittings. The interior of the house comprises of a main lounge, kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom suite. It is open plan design with no internal doors except to the bathroom area. June 1, 2014.

New House May 2014. June 1, 2014. The project is way past mid point now and a couple more seasons will see the landscaping develop and the final touches being made. The main house benefits from a wall sealant and new patio doors and work on the second house has progressed to the point of completion. The main entrance now has a covered roof for a car shelter. December 31, 2013. The weather has been perfect this week. Our house now gets its final coat of waterproofing before the winter really sets in. The main house is now finished. There is very little needed except solar panels for the water. Emphasis has now switched to the second house, a small cottage in effect which is ideal for a couple and which will be heavily insulated for use during the winter months. The outside and inside of the house now needs to be painted and the wooden ceiling installed.

September 23, 2012. The house is looking good now and almost finished in terms of any major work. Whilst we were here this time we had the floors laminated and the kitchen and main corridor tiled. We also organised the internal doors which will be fitted just after we return home to England. The next time we visit the kitchen will be fitted and the house will be pretty much ready to live in.
