Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. The last year that I was in the classroom I was teaching one day when a student, a 10th grader, said to me, "Mr. Sweasy, how old are you? It's rude to ask anyone that," I said, "but I'll tell you anyway. I'm 35.". There was an audible gasp in the classroom. One of the other students said, "Mr. Sweasy, there is NO WAY you are 35! You are WAAAAAAY older than that! Links to this post. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Links to this post. This post is...

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Friday, May 27, 2011. The Last Day.sort of. One year bleeds into the next. Links to this post. Friday, May 20, 2011. The End of the World. I've been told tomorrow is the beginning of the end of the world. In the event that it's not just me that's raptured away but also my wife and children, would someone reading this blog please make sure to feed our dog, Xena? She probably really needs to do her business. Thanks. Please tell them why so that they don't think I won t...

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Sunday, July 31, 2011. Quote of the Week. And though we love to numb the pain. We come to learn that it's in vain. Pain is our mother-. She makes us recognize each other. I can't see the video. Links to this post. Saturday, July 30, 2011. But that's now what I want to write about today. My first Windows computer, purchased in the mid to late1990's, wowed everyone I knew because it had TWO 1,000 megabyte hard drives. Two! I could store all kinds of things on there!

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Signing Off.for now. I knew this day would come. I've actually posted about it. As of today, I'm going to stop posting to this blog, at least for a while. So it's not lack of material. It's lack of motivation. After three years and more than 700 blog posts, I've kind of just lost my interest. I've enjoyed it, and maybe I'll come back to it in a few weeks or months, but for now, this is me signing off. Yeah, I'm done with this. Quote of the Day.

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Thursday, February 2, 2012. Dealing with the government. I received some correspondence today at work that I thought was rather humurous, and also an example of the absurdity that occurs sometimes when dealing with the federal government. I thought you might be wondering that. It's a valid question, but let me ask you this: Would YOU want your superintendent to find out that you COULD have gotten the district $200,00 in technology funds if only you'd filled out s...

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Monday, November 29, 2010. My father died this morning. It was sudden and unexpected. I'll write more about that later, I suppose. For now, though, I want to share these. A few years ago I was contemplating making a documentary of my family's history, and I created these two brief videos as a sort of proof of concept. They're short, but they say a lot about the kind of man my father was. I'm still reeling. I'll write more later. I can't see video 1. He's fine. Wh...

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Thursday, March 31, 2011. It was educational, sure, but it was also frightening. The muscle guy and the nervous system guy, especially, looked like monsters to me. So, since the set of encyclopedias were housed in MY bedroom, I spent my eighth year of life sleeping with nothing sticking out of the covers except for my nose. That way, I knew I was safe from Muscle Man and his pal Nerve Guy. Still, I'm glad that my computer isn't in my bedroom. Links to this post.

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Found this little ditty taped to the wall of a teacher's room today:. We are born into the world. Like a blank canvas. And each person that crosses our path. Takes up the brush. And makes his mark. So it is that we develop. But we must realize there comes a day. That we must take up the brush. And finish the work. For only WE can determine. If we are to be. Links to this post. Sunday, April 24, 2011. Make that one MY ringtone! While she was...

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Sunday, October 31, 2010. So this morning I wake with both good and bad news. The fans of Williamstown cheered, sure, but the Beechwood contingent- all of us sitting together in one section of the stadium- erupted in chaos. We knew we had won! Ah well. You gotta take the bad with the good! I've posted video of the band on a couple of different occasions. Here's one more:. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Still Yet Another Sign. Monday, October 25, 2010. You ask. My e...

Where I Write about Stuff and Things. Thursday, September 30, 2010. About a month ago I posted a video of my older daughter's marching band. But then I found out that the video below existed. It's video of the band's performance last Saturday at the Boyle County Marching Band Competition. My daughter's school finished first in Class A and second overall, just behind state powerhouse Paul Lawrence Dunbar. Here are my three favorite moments in the performance:. I can't see the video. More Bill Gates Stuff.
