800BC Bronze Greek Horse. A beautifully simple and elegant ancient horse. First layer of papier-mache. March 10, 2015. Painted, salted (for texture) and glazed. This is an 8th Century horse of the Tang Dynasty, I believe! This model was one of my early ones so I was a bit OTT with the ribs – too many of them – although they fitted quite well onto the central frame. The painting is done in gouache with a watercolour wash to start, and was painted on watercolour paper and made into a congratulations card, and finally framed.
