Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener: Good Insulation!
http://whitelees.blogspot.com/2015/01/good-insulation.html
Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Friday, January 30, 2015. We had snow last night. This afternoon when coming back from work we were delighted to see so much snow still on the roof. Having looked out the window this morning, we still have loads of snow up there. This means - we have the right amount of insulation! I love living here. The few snowy days that we get remind me that we are very very fortunate! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener: February 2014

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Wednesday, February 12, 2014. One of my mothers best friends died decades ago in the early 1980's. I wasn't living at home when she finally left this world. I was in California going through the final months of a really rotten marriage and wasn't anywhere near my family. Sister Sarah had a hand written. Reply to her letter. It was a bit bland and may not have been written by the child star but it was a ...

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener: April 2015
http://whitelees.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Right after the first time we cut the grass this spring, we had snow. My initial reaction was disbelief. Then I realised that it is spring. This happens. It's rubbish, but it happens. Now I've cut the grass two more times. Nothing harsher than a spring frost since. Yesterday and today have been a delight as I spend time in the garden. Zebra spider (a jumping spider). On morning di...

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Tuesday, March 24, 2015. So, I wasn't just ignoring my blog again after promising that I would be much more faithful about writing. I was out of town! Google Map view of where we were. I was in Egypt doing some dives with The Man of the Place. We were also there to visit George who has been there since December. He has had some time to establish himself down there with a bit of credit. Tracy, Luke and George.

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Because my good friend Sybil came out and helped ring our baby swallows, I have been made aware of what the British Trust for Ornithology. Or BTO does to track birds in the UK and Europe. I found out there was a bird ringing demonstration at a local wildlife reserve. It was a dry and bright Saturday morning and I went along with my camera and binoculars. 5 Let the bird go.

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener: Night Dives
http://whitelees.blogspot.com/2015/04/night-dives.html
Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Wednesday, April 01, 2015. I was really unsure about them at first. Afraid of the dark, but underwater. Now I love them. I may even prefer them to daytime dives. Giant moray going out on a hunt. I love how the daytime fish go find a hole in which they can spend the night. Parrotfish enrobe themselves in a bubble to protect their fishy scent from attracting the patroling moray eels and sharks. Hans died almo...

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Sunday, April 20, 2014. Now that we've got a couple of days over Easter, the Man of the Place and I are getting some outside jobs done. We've had almost a week of really good (non-rainy) weather. We can even walk on the grass without our feet sinking and there is no squelchy noise. I'm not going on a fool's errand again! Pumpkins, courgettes and cucumbers. Fuchsias showing life again. The winter, though wet...

Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener: August 2014
http://whitelees.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Day to Day Life of a Very Lazy Gardener. Notes from my garden with a bit of other stuff thrown in. Saturday, August 16, 2014. The swallows who have made nests in our tool shed have produced two broods this year. Three cheers for a successful breeding season! In a related note, I was delighted to discover that my friend Sybil is part of a program to ring birds for the British Trust for Ornithology. Here's how you ring nestlings:. Sybil gets the birds from the nest. These numbers are TINY. Once the ring is...
