very, very tasty!: March 2010
http://veryverytasty.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Very, very tasty! Cooking the heck out of life. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. As I mentioned in my last post. I woke up on Sunday morning with pie prominently on the brain. No rhyme or reason for it- I just wanted pie. Specifically, I wanted to make. I'm such a dreamer. I swore Meyer lemons off. I'd never tasted sweet potato pie before, but it had, from what I could tell, a great reputation. I found an intriguing recipe on epicurious.com. That suggested roasting the potatoes starting in a cold oven and on low...

very, very tasty!: Unsweetened Cocoa Powder FTW!
http://veryverytasty.blogspot.com/2011/12/unsweetened-cocoa-powder-ftw.html
Very, very tasty! Cooking the heck out of life. Thursday, December 1, 2011. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder FTW! I thought about posting this on Facebook. I already told my mom and my wife, and one of my best friends from high school over Gchat. I really want to tell the world, but I think I have a limited qualified audience. I just discovered the life-changing properties of adding unsweetened cocoa powder to my morning coffee. How did it end up with us back in San Francisco? Would she like that instead? I want...

very, very tasty!: January 2012
http://veryverytasty.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Very, very tasty! Cooking the heck out of life. Saturday, January 28, 2012. I got such a kick out of making homemade marshmallows. Earlier this month. Remember how I mentioned that they had been on my culinary bucket list? That was probably part of it- the thrill of checking something off the list and even succeeding at it. (The other part was how wacky they were to make, how delicious they turned out to be, and the crazy blue mold that started growing on them five days later.). This is what the dough lo...

very, very tasty!: December 2014
http://veryverytasty.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Very, very tasty! Cooking the heck out of life. Sunday, December 28, 2014. We have a lot. Of eggnog in the house. Ninety-six ounces per person, in fact. It's fortunate that both B and I love eggnog. It's great in coffee, for example, and pairs well with a variety of liquors a mostly teetotaling homeowner might re-discover in less-used cabinets and the backs of shelves as remnants of parties and former roommates and well-intentioned but never completed dessert recipes. Serves 6 to 7. 3 c all-purpose flour.

very, very tasty!: Homemade marshmallows: The conclusion
http://veryverytasty.blogspot.com/2012/01/homemade-marshmallows-photojournalistic.html
Very, very tasty! Cooking the heck out of life. Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Homemade marshmallows: The conclusion. A couple of people (close friends, not random strangers) have inquired about my marshmallows. Did they turn out okay? If so, would I be so kind as to make a batch for an upcoming birthday? I feel guilty about leaving you with a cliffhanger on my last post. I didn't realize anyone actually read entire posts on here. Thank you for proving me wrong. Effortlessly (yes, really! But I dont have Mag...

very, very tasty!: Sunday Breakfast: Champagne-Braised Pork Belly and Eggs with Bacon Popcorn
http://veryverytasty.blogspot.com/2011/11/sunday-breakfast-champagne-braised-pork.html
Very, very tasty! Cooking the heck out of life. Sunday, November 13, 2011. Sunday Breakfast: Champagne-Braised Pork Belly and Eggs with Bacon Popcorn. First of all, for some reason, I woke up at 11:15 this morning, completely appalled that I had slept until 11:15 but also extremely angry that B interrupted my dream where I was on a beautiful, warm tropical vacation on some clear water, white sand beach somewhere. We keep a jar of bacon fat in the back of the fridge for such uses as cupcake filling. A qui...

Very, very tasty! Cooking the heck out of life. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. This is the first of three recipes I'll be guest blogging about on. Meals; for Moderns. I adapted this Scotch Shortbread recipe from page 775 of the 75th (no joke) anniversary edition of The. I'm actually not the biggest fan of the JoC;. Came to be in the first place- The United States of Arugula. Another book I strongly dislike for unrelated reasons, told me so (page 22):. Irma Rombauer, the author of The Joy of Cooking. Side n...
