Analysis of the New York Mets. Friday, April 23, 2004. MEANINGFUL GAMES IN MAY? Starting Pitchers: A. The starters have been excellent. Their combined E.R.A. of 3.18 ranks second in the league to the Marlins and, obviously, provides the foundation for winning baseball. They have done it without a fifth starter; the two starts devoted to that slot have produced 10 earned runs in 8 innings. With Scott Erickson unlikely to be able to return. With the Mets bringing up Danny Garcia to replace Ty Wigginton.

Analysis of the New York Mets. Thursday, June 30, 2005. DEAR OMAR . . . We met briefly last October 23rd. I was the guy wearing an extremely bright, official Mets warm up jacket. 1) Trades that make you better this year without hurting you for next year (i.e., picking up an underperforming, expensive veteran to fill a hole, giving nothing real in return other than accepting a salary dump). 2) Trades that have an excellent chance of making the club better in ‘06. Well, keep up the good work,. No Way, Jose.

Analysis of the New York Mets. Sunday, May 22, 2005. I'm too upset to write. I need some separation. They looked better than the Yankees, they were better than the Yankees, they should have won three games, or at least two, but the fact is they didn't. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH! I'm off to take a few deep breaths, and watch Animal House on AMC. I will say, though, that this is why I said they should keep Diaz on the major league roster! OK, breathe, breathe. I'll be better by Thursday. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH! MY MANTRA &...

Analysis of the New York Mets. Thursday, July 15, 2004. As poor internet access from my current location keeps me from checking websites and allows only an occasional post, here are some numberless thoughts as we enter the official second half of the season. It's Great to Be a Mets Fan. We start off the second half tonight with a four game set against the first place Phillies. A big series. How many times have the Mets been headed into a big series this year? I'm a Howe Supporter. The recent series the M...

Analysis of the New York Mets. Tuesday, January 27, 2004. STUPID, OR REALLY, REALLY DEEP. Yesterday, in a swap of late round draft choices from 1998, the Mets traded Jaime Cerda. 23rd round) to the Royals for Shawn Sedlacek. 14th round). Despite Sedlacek's minor superiority in pedigree, this looks like a poor trade for the Mets. Appear to be virtually nil and his chances for a major league career appear dim. For this is to make room on the 40-man roster for the signing of Todd Zeile. One might well q...

Analysis of the New York Mets. Wednesday, March 31, 2004. Since the season is, technically, underway, its time to make predictions of the playoff teams for the 2004 season. Honestly, these are more seat-of-the pants than based on careful analysis, but the same method still has me alive in my NCAA pool, so what the heck. NL East Division Winner: Marlins. NL Central Division Winner: Astros. Making only 21 starts. Even without Mark Prior's injury. NL West Division Winner: Giants. NL Wild Card: Braves. They ...

Analysis of the New York Mets. Sunday, April 16, 2006. Bring on the Braves. Enough with my negativity though. We're off to the best start in Mets history, and the last time we had a lead this big in the division, I was a bachelor, Glavine was in the minors and Jose Reyes was four years old. So, get ready for a great three game series. . . . Posted by Mets Analyst @ 9:25 PM. Sunday, April 09, 2006. Posted by Mets Analyst @ 9:29 PM. Monday, April 03, 2006. A DAY WITHOUT LOOPER. . . Analysis of the New York Mets. Friday, April 29, 2005. Looking for a Bounce Back. No time for much "analysis" today, but the 3-3 homestand was a disappointment. Why, oh why, couldn't we have taken one of those last two games from the Braves? Posted by Mets Analyst @ 10:20 AM. Tuesday, April 26, 2005. More Good Roster Moves. First Heredia was replaced with Heath Bell, and now Matthews has been replaced with Royce Ring. That leaves only one more bullpen shoe to drop: replacing Aybar with the first heal...

Analysis of the New York Mets. Friday, February 27, 2004. Still Thinking About Rightfield:. Rumors about Alfonso Soriano to the Mets. I suspect, though, that such a trade is unlikely. That doesn't mean the Mets can't do something to improve the weaker part (i.e., Shane Spencer) of their rightfield platoon. The Pirates' signing of Raul Mondesi means they still don't appreciate (and now have little role) for Craig Wilson. This Hasn't Happened in a Long Time. Posted by Mets Analyst @ 8:45 AM. Or the fact th...
