I know a guy who was reported (& arrested) for domestic violence after flicking his partner with a pair of pajamas. This manipulation of hard won protection laws does sadly happen, but not often. Surviving violence in the home. Thursday, 1 May 2014. I spent a relatively short time in a very abusive relationship. The experience affected me physically and emotionally, and it is only now, some twenty years later, that I have the space to explore what happened to me. This is a difficult subject. Abuse is dehumanising, not just for the victim, but for family and friends as well. Victims are often embarrassed, ashamed, and many never escape. I hope something in here helps someone out there.
