the world according to b: Finally, Ladurée... and THE Verdict!

http://accordingtobreal.blogspot.com/2008/07/finally-ladure-and-verdict.html

Sunday, July 13, 2008. Finally, Ladurée. and THE Verdict! After gorging (well, hardly for what I had planned to do here in Paris! On my box of Pierre Hermé macarons that I last featured, I gave myself a couple of days (you've got to be impressed by that) before walking down rue Bonaparte to find Ladurée's Saint-Germain pastry shop. The shop is so very lovely, opulent and feminine, loaded with sweets and pretty boxes. Gérard Mulot has been recommended to me by bloggers and Parisians. His selection of ...

http://accordingtobreal.blogspot.com/2008/07/day-in-paris-with-chicamericaine.html

Saturday, July 12, 2008. A Day in Paris with Chicamericaine. We sat for quite awhile, eagerly sharing stories and our love of Paris. She so graciously brought me gifts: a guidebook for the city's bus system and a dual language copy of Colette's Chéri. Always the best place to start! And I was so thrilled to see that the Washington Times recently featured an article on Comté. With some great looking recipes I'll be trying at home! Being here in Paris! The food is the most important thing for my husband, w...

http://accordingtobreal.blogspot.com/2008/07/ma-vie-parisienne.html

Sunday, July 13, 2008. So, I entered Paris, feeling battered and bruised on the inside somewhat. After cursing Paris last Monday, everything started to shift. I stopped hearing that incessant string of questioning in my brain. I stopped feeling as awkward. It takes time to adjust. I believe you're going to have a great time! July 13, 2008 10:32 AM. July 13, 2008 10:37 AM. Beautiful writing, B. This is what it means to make Paris one's own. July 14, 2008 1:12 AM. Twin palms road said. July 14, 2008 7:18 AM.

the world according to b: I We Don't Do Andouille

http://accordingtobreal.blogspot.com/2008/07/i-we-dont-do-andouille.html

Saturday, July 12, 2008. We Don't Do Andouille. In thinking such, I returned to the café a couple of days following that first visit and tried yet another galette, this time with andouille and fromage. I knew that andouille was sausage and I could almost be certain that back in the States, I've had andouille sausage in some form (very important distinction! The offending galette was taken away and a very plain and safe crêpe replaced it. Lesson learned. A few days ago when I met up with Chicameri...But t...

How Logical Are You? Yep, wasted my time on yet another silly test. Not a terribly surprising result. You can take the test here. You Are Incredibly Logical. You got 100% of the questions right). Keys to my heart? Hmmm haven't blogged in a while . but, I wouldn't break out the bubbly yet. Took one of those tests that seem to be ever prevalent on the internet. The Keys to Your Heart. You are attracted to those who have a split personality - cold as ice on the outside but hot as fire in the heart. In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you're told that you're loved. You'd like to your lover to think you are loyal and faithful. that you'll never change. Forbidden Planet: You may spend your life killing,

http://forbidden-planet.blogspot.com/2008/08/you-may-spend-your-life-killing.html

You may spend your life killing,. But you will not exhaust all your foes. If you quell your own anger, your real enemy will be slain. Nagarjuna , a Buddhist philosopher, c150-250 CE. He that will be angry for anything will be angry for nothing. Sallust, Roman historian, 86-34 BCE. When we reject people in anger, or turn on them with the aim of inflicting pain, we damage our souls even more. Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor, 121-180 CE (Meditations, Chapter 2). Out of the corner of my eye . It is interesting how we sometimes notice things in our peripheral vision (although, I am sure there is a lot more we miss). World's Shortest Personality Test. No, I am not short on ideas, just short on time to sit down and write (well . write coherently, at any rate). You are happy, driven, and status conscious. You want everyone to know how successful you are. Very logical, you see life as a game of strategy. A bit of a loner, you prefer to depend on yourself. You always keep your cool and your composure. You are a born leader and business person. You can take the test here. I used to be, lost would be a better descriptor now.

Forbidden Planet: Belated Summer Movie Review

http://forbidden-planet.blogspot.com/2008/09/belated-summer-movie-review.html

Belated Summer Movie Review. Over the summer I saw a bunch of movies with the kids and here are my reviews of them:. A movie with no plot, no substance, just lots of fighting. To give you idea of how violent the movie is, whenever I asked the kids what they were watching on TV they would reply, "Don't worry, it's not as violent as Prince Caspian.". I think the movie can be summed up as follows:. Examining the ruins of Narnia) "What happened here? I don't know, but lets go thump something". Pretty silly&#...

Forbidden Planet: Yard waste bags are not created equal

http://forbidden-planet.blogspot.com/2008/09/yard-waste-bags-are-not-created-equal_04.html

Yard waste bags are not created equal. I hate Home Depot yard waste bags. Every single one I have used has torn. I cannot even tamp down the yard waste in it without the sides splitting. I find the ones sold at Canadian Tire or Loblaws to be much more robust. Heck, I can jump on them and the don't rip. Makes me wonder were Home Depot gets theirs, because there cannot be that many different manufacturers of yard waste bags. Posted by Richard @ 00:01. September 04, 2008 2:03 AM.
